Protestant Baptism Information

Thank you for choosing the Unites States Naval Academy Chapel to baptize your child. Protestant Baptisms are held on thethird Sunday of each month in St. Andrews Chapel (downstairs from the Main Chapel) at 1300. Please be mindful when inviting family and friends that there are other families scheduled as well and St. Andrews can only hold 120 people.

Application Process and Scheduling your Baptism: Once you receive this packet please fill it out and send it back to us as quickly as possible. We will put your name on the schedule when we receive this packet back. We will NOT accept incomplete packages (i.e. your child has not been born yet). In this case please submit the information once the child is born and we will add you to the schedule if the date you desire is available.

Pre-Baptism Class: Once you have submitted the application and are officially scheduled we will arrange a date for the baptism class (typically held the second Sunday based on chaplain availability). If you are not in or close to the Annapolis area or if you would prefer to have your home clergy or local command chaplain perform the class we can accept that. We will need a letter from your clergy to maintain in our records. Send the conformation letter to 101 Cooper Road, Annapolis MD 21402 ATTN: RP3 Courtney Timmons OR by email .

One Day Passes: Once we have received your application, and your requested baptism has been schedule and have attended or scheduled to attend a pre-baptism class we will be able to begin to process your vehicle access requests. At a minimum of one week before your scheduled baptism date you will need to submit one day pass requests for any guest that you want to attend. One day passes are required for guests who do not have Department of Defense ID Cards (active or retired) and wish to be able to drive onto the yard. For those who do not have a DOD ID Card you will need to submit:1.Name as it appears on their driver’s license, and 2. Cell number. Once that information has been submitted we will send it to pass and tag for approval. Once approved you may pick the passes up the day of your scheduled Baptism at the Visitors Center located at gate one. Pass and Tag is closed on Sundays so we arrange for your passes to be left with the sentry on watch to be available for you to pick up. Send pass Information to .

Service times/Chapel Access: We have a 0815 Holy Communion service held in St. Andrews Chapel and an 1100 service held in the Main Chapel every Sunday. Some families choose to attend services the day of the baptism, but it is not required. If you choose not to attend the services please ensure that you and your guest arrive at the chapel by 1215. Please allow plenty of time to find parking on the yard. You may park in town and access the chapel at gate one or three (walking)if you have trouble finding parking on the yard. (Any guest walking on will need a valid government issued photo ID).

Frequently asked questions: For Active Duty Military are uniforms required? No. You may wear whatever you see fit for the baptism. Is there a specific gown my child has to wear? No. It is the parents’ discretion as to what the child is wearing for the baptism. We provide the baptismal candle and a certificate. We are looking forward to working with you and your family to ensure that you enjoy this special day in your child’s life.
