PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Tiny Home Village Working Group is an informed circle of local volunteers concerned about the harsh fact that so many people remain sleeping on the streets of Albuquerque and its peripheries despite the array of available provider and outreach programs.
Vision Statement:Tiny home villages are supportive communities in Bernalillo County that provide safe, stable, quality housing for individuals who are homeless.
BENEFITS OF TINY HOME VILLAGES
Projectstransform blighted areas into community assets
Residents provide natural surveillance for surrounding businesses and homeowners
Design creates a balance of privacy and sense of community
Governance creates a sense of community both internally and externally
Construction creates opportunity to activate volunteer labor/crowdsource materials from community
Total cost of development can be cheaper than traditional affordable housing
POPULATIONS SERVED
- Chronically Homeless Person: “an unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has been continuously homeless for a year or more, or has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years.
