Monday Project Read and Spelling---Students will be completing MAP reading Round 3 computer standardized assessment

Tuesday Project Read and Spelling---Unit 29 Lesson 1 Skill: oo as in boo

Teacher will display the diacritical marks all learned on page 29-5 and ask what are these signs?

Vowel sound signs.

What do you know about each sign?

Short vowel sign, long vowel sign, r control sign, schwa sign

In this lesson you will learn about the diphthong vowel. Display the word diphthong in syllables. The first syllable is pronounced dif and the second syllable is pronounced thong. If possible, draw a picture of a sandal for the thong.

Rules:

1.  Like a thong that separates the toes into two parts, a diphthong has 2 vowels.

2.  The sign for a diphthong sound is an oval above the vowels.

Students will skywrite the oo spelling and sound 3 times.

Teacher will place the worksheet 29-11 under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the oo words with teacher guidance. This will be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will also place worksheet 29-13 sentences containing oo words under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the sentences orally with teacher assistance. This worksheet will also be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will place the story, “Fantastic Grass” under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. This story will be sent home for reading homework.

Thursday Project Read and Spelling---Unit 29 Lesson 1: diphthong oo as in boo

Class will review oo by discussing that it is a diphthong. The first syllable is pronounced dif and the second syllable is pronounced thong. Discuss the thong sandal.
