Project Proposal

This paper provides a thorough description of a selected project. The main sections of this paper are project summary, project goals and objectives, customers and stakeholders, milestones and deliverables, timelines, project costs, and associated challenges.

Summary of the project

Managing a project is an important task that helps to make sure that project goals and objectives are accomplished within the set period (KerznerKerzner, 2017). The current project in which I am the project manager involves the creation of a website for Global Logistics, a company involved in the design and sale of sporting items. Initially, the website will have a description of various products designed and sold by the company. After some time, more features will be included. For example, customers will be able to interact directly with the sales department and make direct purchases. Customers will also be able to give reviews and feedback regarding the services offered through the company website.

Project Goals and Objectives

As mentioned by Pollack (2007), defining project goals and objectives is a very critical activity in project management. There are three main goals associated with the development of a website for Global Logistics. These are;

  • To increase the company’s online presence and eventually generate additional sales
  • To increase the general consumer awareness in relation to company products
  • To help the company reach a considerable number of potential customers

The objectives include having more than five thousand customers registered through the website by the end of 2018, and increasing the level of service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key customers and stakeholders

Different projects have stakeholders and customers whose involvement with the project can either be direct or indirect (Newcombe, 2003). The key customers for Global Logistics will be mainly the sports women and men. Other customers will include sporting firms, university students, and any other person interested in sporting items. On the other hand, the key stakeholders will comprise of the top company management, investors, and public relations agencies.

Key milestones and deliverables

The three major milestones associated with the current project are create new design, transfer information to the new design, and publish the company’s website. Deliverables include the things given to the website development team. These include user manuals, training sessions, and effective system of work.

High-Level Timeline

The project’s high-level timeline is as follows

Finalising various requirements of the project- April 3, 2018

Creating an appropriate work structure- April 15, 2018

Coding language – May 5, 2018

Hiring website development team – May 15, 2018

Initiating website development activities– June 1, 2018

Website testing – June 20, 2018

Website launch – July 5, 2018

Project’s overall Cost and Resources

The overall cost of the new project is approximately $800. The costs include licensing fee and costs of hiring the venue to launch the new website. Other project requirements include technical resources required to develop an attractive and high-speed website.

Associated Challenges

For the current project, challenges include the problems encountered when identifying the actual requirements of the projects and technique that should be applied when making decisions on what should be included in the new website. There are fears that the estimated budget may not be enough. In an attempt to address some of these challenges, Newcombe (2003) asserts that there is a great need for project managers to adapt a systematic way of identifying project requirements and conduct a comprehensive analysis of project requirements based on the current industry trends.
