OVERVIEW

Following our discussion of technology’s ultimate impact on our humanity, you will conduct research about the impact technology has had in ONE key area of current society. You will complete a project that demonstrates what you have learned, and expresses your idea as to what the most significant technology development has been in a specific area and whether the impact it has created on the end product has been positive or negative.

CRITERIA

5 minute presentation explaining your topic, your research, how the technology

development impacted the focus area, and your conclusion (whether its impact was good or bad and why)

Product –Powerpointpresentation, song, art, original story, etc.

Product MUST clearly show the area of focus, the technological

development/innovation, and the ultimate impact it created

Works Cited page - reflecting at least 3 valid/reliable sources of research (typed in

proper MLA format, using Times Roman 12pt., 1-inch margins, etc.)

EVALUATION

You will be graded on whether your presentation includes all key criteria, reflects effective, valid research, high overall quality of final product, and meets time requirement for final presentation. ALL STUDENTS MUST PRESENT.

DUE: Feb. 13, 2015 (PD. 8); Feb. 17 (PD. 5). This assignment is worth 50pts.

PROJECT/PRODUCT OVERVIEWS

POWERPOINT

  • Must include a minimum of 8 slides
  • No more than 3 bullet points per slide
  • At least 1 relevant graphic per slide
  • 1 animation per slide
  • Presentation: 5 minutes

SONG/FILM

  • May use an original creation or existing songs to reflect what you learned from the research and the impact of the technology/innovation
  • Must still present/introduce your content – research area, focus, innovation, point of your song/songs presented
  • IF using existing songs, must use sound bite/clip of the songs – no more than 30 seconds each; no more than 3 songs (same for film/video clips)
  • IF creating original song, must be no longer than 2mins. 30 seconds – remaining time must include your presentation
  • Need to give teacher one complete set of lyrics for all songs (MUST BEschool appropriate); all video clips must be school appropriate

ART

  • Must include 1 example of art/style BEFORE technology innovation researched was used
  • Original work must reflect the use of the new technology or a representation of its impact/effect
  • Must still do a 5-min. presentation explaining the art, its representation, purpose, etc.
  • Must be school appropriate

WRITING

  • Must create an original composition – either poetry or short story – reflecting the results of research and present to the class (total: 5 mins.)
  • Poetry – must compose a minimum of 3 poems – format/length must reflect standard poetry rules
  • Short Story – must be no more than 3-5 pages and reflect characteristics of specific genre
  • Must be typed in Times Roman 12pt. font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and have a title reflective of the content
  • Must be school appropriate
