Project Outline for Rocky Mountain Day Camp

Project Purpose

(General project purpose statement, 1-4 sentences in length.)

Rocky Mountain Day Camp is entering its fifth year at Eldorado K-8 in Superior and is proud to be opening a second location at Casey Middle School in Boulder. The goal is to recruit new campers to RMDC, Boulder.

History

(Identify relevant history that may pertain to the project—e.g. sources of pain which led to this project’s creation, previous or related work, financial impact of not doing project, etc.)

RMDC launched operations in the summer of 2008 with a program built for FUN! Campers build confidence and self-esteem through a wide variety of activities led by expert staff conducting every activity offered in an age and ability appropriate manner. For the past two summers, RMDC has only spent one week in Boulder and now RMDC is looking forward to bringing the same awesome experience all summer long to Boulder. Marketing the Boulder location is crucial, however getting enrollment of girls is a higher priority. RMDC has been facing declining numbers in girl campers because we believe RMDC is projecting a more competitive sports camp.

The camp offers a wide variety of activities featuring; archery, arts and crafts, baseball, basketball, climbing wall, dance, drama, floor hockey, football, games, golf, lacrosse, music, rocketry, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water activities and much more including special programs and events. Each activity is led by a counselor specializing in that area such as college athletes leading sport activities in their core area or rugby being led by special guests USA Rugby. Other strategies to market RMDC have been through providing archery, basketball, and football lessons as well as hosting RMDC themed birthday parties, however results of enrollment is not as high. The least successful strategies thus far have been door hanging, bulletin board postings in schools, and windshield flyers at local sporting events.

Project Objectives

(Define measurable items that will be accomplished from the project. Bullet list format is fine.)

-Focus on girls camp

-Analyze current niche market

-How can we spread the word of RMDC outside its geographical area?

-How can we get the message out there that RMDC is an elite camp and nothing else compares?

-What can we do with the website?

-Continued use of door hanging and flyers?

  • Brochures?

-Increase word of mouth beyond incentives

-What other add-ons can we have? Increase archery? Football?

  • Pre-school camps?

-How can we use the rock-wall to advertise RMDC?

-Per student reward system with local schools?

-Increase enrollment

-Whole Foods catering?

Critical Milestones and Event Dates

Increase enrollment to 90 campers per session for RMDC Boulder Summer 2012

Roles & Responsibilities

(Outline roles and responsibilities for the student teams, the company, and specific company representatives if possible. Bullet list format is fine.)

Assumptions

(Identify critical planning assumptions that may or will have an impact to project scope, time, quality, or satisfaction.)

Campers from Superior will transfer to the Boulder location.

RMDC is seen as a competitive sports camp, is this true and if so, is this good or bad?
