Project Manager – Substance Abuse Prevention

MCD Public Health, a division of Medical Care Development (MCD), Inc., a not-for-profit health services organization in collaboration with Healthy Communities of the Capital Area (HCCA),is accepting applications for a public health project management position for the Substance Abuse Prevention program. This full-time, 40 hour per week position will be located at the HCCA office in Gardiner. This position requires an individual who has a keen attention to detail and the ability to follow through to meet deadlines.We are searching for an energetic, flexible, and detail-oriented candidate with a conscientious work style who works well in a team environment. The individual in this position is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.

The Project Manager will be responsible for oversight of both State and Federal Grant implementation requirements. Grant writing and development of workplans and budgets are key responsibilities for this position.This includes supporting substance abuse prevention strategies that align with SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework and supporting the work of a Drug Free Communities Coalition that serves southern Kennebec County towns.The position serves as a team member of HCCA and MCD’s Public Health Division with responsibility to work collaboratively,support partnerships and initiatives,and improve public awareness and education.

Successful applicants will be energetic, self-starters who are able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relate well to funders, co-workersand various community partners as well as the general public. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. A Bachelor’s Degree in a public health, health, or behavioral health-related field with grant management experience is preferred; however, equivalent related work experience may be considered. Master’s level training with experience in related field is a plus. Experience in and a passion for addressing substance abuse and/or mental health is also a plus, as is experience in the implementation of grant related projects. Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated cultural competence are essential. Competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II.
