Project Coordinator - SNAP Nutrition Educator
MCD Public Health, a division of Medical Care Development, Inc., a not-for-profit health services organization in collaboration with Healthy Communities of the Capital Area (HCCA), is accepting applications for a Project Coordinator as the SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education). This position is responsible for implementing the SNAP-Ed work plan by coordinating and delivering nutrition education services to people eligible for SNAP, according to USDA SNAP-Ed and Maine DHHS approved guidelines throughout all the towns of the Local Service Area (LSA) in Southern Kennebec County. The SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator provides direct education, detailed documentation and record keeping, outreach and engagement, and is a member of HCCA’s nutrition team. We are searching for an energetic, flexible, and detail-oriented candidate with a conscientious work style. This 40 hour per week position is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.
Thisposition is located at the HCCA office in Gardiner and is a grant-funded position with -potential for renewal. This position requires a person with both a keen attention to detail and follow through as well as the ability to educate and facilitate groups of all ages and assure that grant deliverables and expectations, including evaluation and data collection requirements are met.
Competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. As this position will be traveling, a valid Maine driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary. Materials and supplies will also be transported so the ability to lift and carry these items is required.
Successful applicants will be energetic, self-starters who are able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relate well to co-workers, health care providers, schools, organizations, youth, and the public. A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, community health, education, or health-related field is required and three to five years of experience is preferred. Exceptional writing, interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated cultural competence are essential.
