Project Coordinator – Public Health Liaison Support

MCD Public Health, a Division of Medical Care Development (MCD), Inc., is seeking four (4) talented professionalswith public health experience to provide staff support to Maine’s District Liaisons in their duties of convening Maine’s nine (9) District Coordinating Councils (DCCs). Project Coordinators will be spread across the state and each position willbe based in one of Maine’sDHHS District officesreporting directly to the District Liaison assigned to that office. Project Coordinators will be assigned multiple districts and will work directly with the District Liaisons of their designated districts to provide support and coordination for the DCC. Duties will include assuring efficient and coordinated meetings of each DCC, arrangement of meeting space, recordings of minutes, facilitation of communication, and placement of public notices. Project Coordinators will also assist the District Liaison in ensuring compliance of the DCC with statutory requirements, development of operational policies, and the continued development of a District Public Health Improvement Plan (DPHIP). These positions will workclosely with DCC members and committees, facilitating operations of the DCC and assuring effectiveday-to-day operations of the DCC.

These positions require a keen attention to detail and skills to conduct routine follow up on project activities. The Project Coordinator is a non-exempt, full-time, 40 hour per week position that is eligible for MCD’s benefit package. This position is contracted through October 30, 2022, and is supported by federal funding. Annual renewal is based on availability of funding.

Applicants applying for this position should have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Experience with meeting preparations, facilitation and presentations
  • Experience in providing administrative supports to organizations, such as the arrangement of meeting space, recordings of minutes, assurance of communications and placement of public notices
  • Experience and knowledge in public health and organizational management
  • Ability to work independently with demonstrated strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders including representatives of community organizations (state and local level)
  • Ability to participate in high-performing, goal oriented groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with project partners
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to project partners and others
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, implement and manage multiple activities at once

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Education or related health field and two (2) years’ experience in health, public health, or a related health field of community or health education program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Competencies among successful candidates are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II.
