Programme Support Fellows (UK & Overseas)

About us

Teach A Man To Fish (TAMTF) is an internationally focussed UK charity with an innovative approach to improving the relevance and availability of education in developing countries. Believing education to be the single most powerful tool available for reducing poverty in developing countries, we work with well-established local partners, principally schools, to improve the quality of general and skills education for young people. The innovation that truly distinguishes Teach A Man To Fish from other education charities is our approach to financial sustainability. School-based income-generating projects - from dairy production to internet cafes - allow students to develop a much needed sense of entrepreneurship and business acumen. Moreover, the production and sale of products from these social enterprises generates income which schools are able to use to support their educational work.

About the Fellowship

We are launching a new Fellowship Scheme and looking to hire 2 fellows on an 18-months contract, of which 6 months will be in our London office and 12 months at an overseas placement in a developing country. In the UK the Fellows will support the Programme Managers in a wide range of activities including running international competitions on enterprise development in schools, organising conferences and events, producing communication materials, supporting with fundraising, M&E and project management. Overseas the role will be defined by the partner with which the Fellows will be working for, but will most likely focus on building local capacity in business planning and management,

Fellows will benefit from an ongoing in-house training program with weekly sessions covering a wide range of skills applicable to a career in international development. The role is expected to suit graduates with some prior overseas and UK experience in international development, as well as more experienced professionals from other sectors looking to transition into this field. Successful candidates will have a positive can-do attitude, plenty of initiative and will be prepared to take on a wide variety of tasks.
