PROGRAMME SUPPORT COACH/ MANAGER

RESPONSIBILITIES

BACKGROUND

Through the partnership that exists for the Curling Performance Programme (between The Royal Caledonian Curling Club, British Curling and sportscotland), we are seeking to appoint a number of persons to support the full-time coaching staff prepare the teams and athletes within the programme through-out the season. The programme is led by the Head Coaches and managed by the Performance Director, who are accountable to the programme partners.

PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting the Performance Programme to maximise the performance and team dynamic of identified team(s)/ group of athletes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY

  • The coach is accountable to the relevant Head Coach for all matters relating to his/her duties and responsibilities.
  • The terms of employment, remuneration, conditions and authority are subject to contractual arrangements entered into between the coach and the Royal Club.
  • In respect of training and competition programmes of players selected into the Performance Programme, the coach is responsible to the relevant Head Coach & Performance Director.
  • Should there be conflict in relation to an individual it will be resolved in the first instance by the relevant Head Coach.

DUTIES (May include, but not limited to)

In agreement with the relevant Head Coach:

  • Input to developing training and competition programmes for an identified team(s) to achieve identified outcomes.
  • Coach and oversee the training and competition programmes for the identified team /athletes.
  • Efficient use of Performance Analysis soft/hardware and attend any training days required.
  • Feedback agreed statistical and observational data to the relevant Head Coach/ HPC after competitions.
  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of technical skills and tactical awareness to enhance the learning process of athletes.
  • Ensure all tournament entries and admin are completed for an identified team.
  • Represent the Performance Programme and its respective Governing Bodies (Royal Club & British Curling) in an appropriate manner at all times.

PROGRAMME COMMITMENT

In discussion with the relevant Head Coach and the identified team, an annual programme will be agreed that may include such events as;

  • Team training days at on and off ice camps.
  • Overseas Competitions with identified teams.
  • Medium priority domestic competitions.
  • Scottish Play-downs and Finals.
  • Agreed personal training/ development events.

The level of commitment and remuneration will vary depending on the level of performance and time required for each team, broadly speaking it can be described as part time and seasonal.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Achievement of targets agreed with the relevant Head Coach.
  • Implementation of agreed programmes.
  • Agreed Performance profiling and data collected on all athletes.

PAYMENT FOR SERVICES

Will be paid upon receipt of invoice (invoices must include a statement that confirms that the coach is self employed and will declare the full amount through their tax return);

Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of the agreed programme/ tasks by the Programme Support Coach/ Manager and in accordance with the scale and timescales to be approved by Performance Director and relevant Head Coach

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES

The payment for services will be considered to have covered expenses incurred and any taxation implications will lie solely with the coach.

TAX and NI

The Coaches will be responsible for declaring the income as self employed persons and will be required to include the money received in tax return/self assessment declaration to HMRC. Failure by the coach to make a proper declaration will expose the Royal Club to penalty payments from HMRC, for which the Royal Club will recover the full amounts from any coach not declaring the income. Invoices must include the statement provided above.

LENGTH OF AGREEMENT

Dependant on agreement of duties with Head Coach/ Performance Director.
