Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the following provisional position on the DeWitt or Stuttgart Campus. This job posting is for a full-time, 12 month provisional position funded as a part of the GEAR UP grant.

Program Coordinator

Arkansas County

The Coordinator provides leadership and oversight to GEAR UP partner school districts (DeWitt, Dumas, Lakeside and Stuttgart) ensuring full programmatic and fiscal implementation of the grant program at middle and high school direct-service sites. Supervises the Project Specialist and in collaboration with other staff, develops policies, procedures, rules, guidelines, forms, reports and other documents relative to the implementation of the GEAR UP program and activities to include: tutoring mentoring, counseling, college visits, education field trips, motivational activities, parent activities, etc. Assists GEARUP school districts in the identification, hiring, and training site coordinators and other district-based staff. Responsible for the development of diverse, PCCUA-based activities and programs for GEARUP students/parents/guardians to promote increased school interest and involvement, improved academic achievement, career awareness, and academic progression. Provide technical assistance to site coordinators and makes recommendations regarding their compliance with GEAR UP policies and procedures. Serves as the liaison between GEARUP central office staff, partner school districts and other partners. Assists with collection of data and information required for reporting, evaluation, and budget oversight functions.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field is desired. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work counseling or related field required and five years’ experience providing services for underserved populations. Experience supervising full-time staff is essential. Experience working within K-12 setting as well as understanding of qualifications for successful transition to higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Must have to ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, program officer, evaluators, parents and community professionals. Must have experience in coordinating multiple programs and curriculum development. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as having the ability to make decisions regarding budgeting, financial planning. Must have the ability to provide leadership of day-to-day programming. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and weekend time required. Travel between work sites is required.
