Operating instructions for automatic blade retraction

  1. push the slider button to expose the blade ready for cutting
  2. Insert the blade into the material to be cut (CAUTION)a short but full cuttingstroke is required to activate the automatic retraction mechanism
  3. important! When the blade is inserted in cardboard and similar type materials the blade will remain out.It is not necessary to remove the thumb from the blade push during the cutting operation..
  4. the blade will automatically and instantaneously retract into the body of the knife when the blade is withdrawn from the material and the cutting operation is complete (the blade will retract regardless of the slider button position by the user)
  5. the SK103 is not recommended in general light weight cutting operations such as plastic bags and paper etc as the blade will inadvertently retract on such light weight materials
  6. check the blade regularly for debris or tape residue etc

Maintenance & Blade Changing

(Do not attempt to poke objects into the blade openings)

To expose the blade mechanism:

  1. hold the knife by depressing the button on the base of the knife and carefully open the cover at the base of the knife with the other hand, fully open until the slider mechanism is exposed
  2. with the mechanism facing upwards and holding the knife in one hand carefully release the bottom of the long slider lever from its locating peg and push towards the front (blade end) of the knife
  3. the blade and its holder will now be exposed and the lever should be pushed fully forwards until it clicks and detaches from the spring mechanism
  4. keeping the thumb on the slider with a gentle pressure will control the blade slider
  5. the blade may now be carefully replaced. (ensure that it is properly located on both of the locating pegs)
  6. when the blade is inserted pull the blade by the slider lever towards the base of the knife until the lever locks on the locating peg (do not push by the blade)
  7. close the handle fully until the button locks into position
  8. check a few times to ensure that the slider is working correctly
  9. do not attempt to make unauthorised repairs and report any damage or defect to the appropriate person
  10. always dispose of used blades in accordance with company procedures
