Job purpose
To be the technical lead in providing and maintaining the Service Management Applications Architecture for the University and to be the technical design authority for all Applications managed within the Service Management Lifecycle function.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities / % Time /
1.  / To be the sole technical design authority for all Service Management Lifecycle projects and developments / 20 %
2.  / To lead on the development and implementation of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) with emphasis on the definition and representation of interacting service components for all Service Management Lifecycle projects and developments / 40%
3.  / To coordinate and plan activities and resources across the department so as to develop technical solutions that meet defined business needs for all Service Management Lifecycle projects and developments / 10 %
4.  / To advise the Head of Service Management on suitable current products within the commercial market place to meet ITSM needs, to identify gaps that the commercial marketplace cannot fill and to offer alternative solutions to a market approach as needed / 5 %
5.  / To take full responsibility for technical support and interoperability issues over the full lifecycle of Service Management service solutions / 5 %
6.  / To liaise with suppliers concerning the resolution of reported faults, the adoption of new versions and products and to advise iSolutions of developments being planned by suppliers with recommendations for incorporating them into our development programme. / 5 %
7.  / To work collaboratively with specialist iSolutions colleagues in identifying appropriate infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements / 10 %

·  To work across multiple University campus sites.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: / Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
or
Professional qualification in a relevant subject plus formal training
Demonstrable experience developing applications using some or all of the following languages/frameworks:
·  C#
·  Java
·  Javascript
·  PHP
·  ASP.Net / ITIL or similar quality assurance standard (minimum Foundation level)
Experience in some or all of:
·  Applications Architecture
·  Service Orientated Architecture
·  Load and Performance testing
·  REST

·  Microsoft Windows Server
·  Microsoft SQL Server
·  MySQL
·  SQL, and PL/SQL

Experience of working in an environment that uses best practice service methodologies such as ITIL, PRINCE2 etc. / CV, aptitude test and interview
