Professional Portfolio Checklist

For this exploration activity, you need to start collecting your materials and preparing them for your professional portfolio. Use this check sheet as a guide to ensure that you have the required materials/components for your portfolio.
Items are to be highlighted in the list below as they are accomplished. In Microsoft Word 2010 and Microsoft Word 2007, the “highlight” tool is located under the “Home” tab in the “Font” section. Use the correct colors as indicated below.

Purchased Items

Highlight the following items in yellow once they are purchased for your hard copy portfolio.

  Black three-ring binder with transparent sleeve on outside front cover

  Clear, three hole, sheet protectors

  Tabbed index dividers

  Quality resume paper

Portfolio Guidelines

Highlight the following guidelines in purple once you have mentally reviewed them.

  All materials are to be typed

  All type must be in black ink

  No typing, spelling, or grammar errors

  Font size should be between 10 and 12

  Font theme should be professional

Portfolio Components

Your professional portfolio must include the following components.
Carefully review these components then highlight them in green.

  Cover Page

  Table of Contents

  Resume

  Reference Page

  Career Goals

  Skills List

  Cover Letters (2)

  Letters of Recommendation (2)
These letters must be authentic letters from real people, as well as validated by their signature. Do not wait until the last minute to ask your individuals to complete these letters for you.

  College Transcript(s)

Artifacts

You are required to include at least five artifacts in your professional portfolio.
Highlight the artifacts you plan to use in your portfolio in blue.

The following are examples of artifacts that you may include:
Use at least three unique types of artifacts to complete your five required artifacts.

  Samples of “Best Work”

  Certificates/Awards

  Scholarship Letters

  Photographs/Newspaper Clippings
