Job purpose:

The purpose of this role is to prepare Otahuhu College students to win medals at Auckland level and nationally and to go on to compete professionally and at the Olympic Games


Professional and Olympic Sports Academy

Vision:More Otahuhu College students going on to be professional athletes and compete at the Olympic Ganmes.

Purpose:To lead and develop high performance athletes over a variety of sporting codes to success both in Auckland and on the nationalstage.

We receive significant public funding through Pasifika Futures, as they support Otahuhu College families towards further success. Our expanded high performance programme requires strong training to build on our systems, processes and winning team culture. Key Tasks:

Key Tasks / Expected Results
Professional and Olympic Sports Academy
Systems and Processes / To lead the development of systems and processes that will enhance the development of talented athletes
Reporting / To undertake ongoing quality assessment including monthly reporting of all academy members against individual goals.
Education / Provision of education support and advicefor academy membersincluding liaison with whanau teachers and deans
Family / Liaison with families, engaging them in both Professional and Olympic Sports Academy and education.
Training Tasks
Develop individual athlete performance plans. / Individual performance plan & training programmes set out what is required for athletes to develop and perform
nationally.
Provide daily hands-on training that aligns to individual athlete
performance plans. / The hands-on training of athletes is aligned to the plans and principles of the coaching team and delivers
national results.
Identify and prioritise key
competition opportunities. / The programme’s competition strategy contributes to
athlete development and international achievement.
Use of sportscience to enhance performance / Data and expertise contribute to the design and delivery
of training programmes.
Participate in campaign debriefs and
write reports. / Campaigns are debriefed and written reports are
compiled.
Manage the collection, storage and utilisation of results, performance data and other knowledge and
information / Knowledge and information used to gain competitive edge.
Ensure athletes commit to the culture and goals the Professional and Olympic Sports Academy / Athletes live the performance culture and meet the programme’s development and performance goals.
Higher Levels of Sporting Success
Working across all sporting codes / Supporting coaches across all codes in developing effective training plans.
Otahuhu Community / Develop, communicate and ensure effective implementation of an appropriate talent identification nd development programme across the OtahuhuKahuiAko
Recruitment and Enrolment / Help raise a positive profile for sport and studying at Otahuhu College.

Development in Professional and Olympic Sports Academy athletes R>E>S>T / Working with athletes to develop strong commitment to being Respectful, engaged in their studies, Supportive of others and on Time.
Working with identified students / Using sports training to work with identified at risk youth to develop R.E.S.T.

Significant experience and success in:

  • Preparing student athletes and writing training programmes
  • Be part of the development and coach national-class secondary school level.
  • Have experience in a Team environment especially around teambuilding.
  • Work with sport science and medicine into athletepreparation
