Entrepreneurship Education

Coneeect is a European organisation dedicated to the promotion of the teaching of entrepreneurship education in higher education. It gathered for its weeklong summer symposium in the historic University of Aberdeen. A series of speakers from European universities and industry explored relevant research in its understanding; challenged participants to continuously redefine its parameters and to embrace active learning methodologies in its teaching. The conference is part of a master-class series of capacity building in developing entrepreneurship education teaching capability in higher education throughout Europe.

The Coneeect project has an interdisciplinary focus and is not solely for the business specialist. In education terms, it seeks to cultivate and channel talents and capabilities that can have both economic and social benefits. An opportunity was presented to share research on entrepreneurship education undertaken with a colleague of mine, Morgan Danaher on ‘A gestalt approach to entrepreneurship education’ and ‘Curricular developments in entrepreneurship education in an Irish second level school’. These and other papers generated keen discussion and commentary in group and plenary sessions.
