SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER

·  After graduation from the Military Technical College (Egypt, 13th May 1971) joined to the Armed Forces as a First Lieutenant - Engineer in the preparation of The Glorious October War (1973). One year in the field and from November 1972 to November 1979 in Armed Forces Technical Research Center, till the appointment of Major Rank. During that period, MSc in Chemical Engineering had awarded from Cairo University (1977).

·  From 1979 – 1981: Assistant Lecturer in Engineering Chemistry at Faculty of Engineering (at Shobra) -Zagazig University, (Now Banha University). During that period, PhD in Chemical Engineering had awarded from Cairo University (1981).

·  From 1981-1985: Lecturer of Engineering Chemistry at Faculty of Engineering (at Shobra) from the year 1981 to 1983 and from 1983 to 1985 at Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University. During that period (from September 1982 to September 1983, spent one year as a research fellow at Chemical Engineering Department, University of Nottingham, UK.

·  From 1986-1989: Assistant Professor of Engineering Chemistry and Head of Engineering Physics and Mathematics Department at Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University. During that period, a Water Quality Control and Research Laboratory had been established and many activities and services to community had performed effectively and highly acknowledged from stalk holders. Most of the listed research articles and projects were executed in this laboratory, and a number of graduates had been trained and now they are appointed appropriate jobs both inside and outside Mansoura University. This Laboratory is working and continually developed uptill now. Many interdisciplinary research works had been performed and are still going with different Scientific Departments in Mansoura University: Faculty of Engineering (Public Works Engineering, Structural Engineering, Irrigation& Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Power Engineering and Textile Engineering Departments), Faculty of Science (Chemistry Department), Faculty of Science at Damietta Branch (Chemistry, Botany and Environmental Science Departments), and Faculty of Agriculture (Agricultural Engineering Department). Also, some partnership research works with Chemical Engineering Departments, both in Cairo and Minia Universities had been performed in awarding post graduate degrees. (Evidences from list of publications and MSc & PhD supervised).

·  From September 1989 up till now:

Professor of Engineering Chemistry. During this period, the following positions and activities had been performed:

§  Head of Engineering Physics and Mathematics Department (from 1st of October 1989 to 6th of November 1995, from 4th of May 1997 to 6th of July 1997 and from 2ed of September 2002 to 15th of September 2003).

§  Vice Dean of The Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University for Community Services & Environmental Development Affairs: (from the 7th of November 1995 to 6th of November 2001). During that period activities were emphasized towards contribution of the Faculty for community involvement, specifically in:

(1): Management of Service Units ( Vice President of the Management Council of The Engineering Research, Studies and Consultation Center and at the same time Vice President of the Management Council of the Scientific, Technical and Laboratories Services Center)

(2): Organizing several training courses, for developing skills and continual education of graduates and employees, in both governmental and private sectors.

(3): Organizing several conferences and workshops, both in the level of the Faculty, University and national basis.

(4): Foundation Member of Mansoura University Environmental Science Journal. This journal is published Internationally and abstracted.

(5): Member of the editorial board of Mansoura Engineering Journal (1989-2000) and Chief Editor from 2003-2006.

(9): Visiting Professor at Chemical & Petrochemical Engineering Department (United Arab Emirates University) during the 1st Semester of the Academic Year (1996/1997).

§  Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics- Mansoura University (from the16thof October 1999 to the 15th of September 2003, in addition to original job in the Faculty of Engineering).

DEVELOPING DEPARTMENTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES AND LABORATORIES:

(1): Establishing of the Engineering Mathematics& Physics Department and developing its Bylaw.

(2): Establishing, developing and supervising Water Quality Control Laboratory, where in this laboratory researches& studies in the field of water& wastewater treatment both for industrial and domestic are currently performed. This laboratory is considered as a special unit in the min frame of the Scientific, Technical and Laboratories Services Center.

(3): Developing the Engineering Chemistry Laboratory through getting an Italian offer, through the Ministry of International Co-Operation, for supplying the laboratory with the following educational units,(1991) :

(i): Biofermentor Unit , (ii): Industrial wastewater Treatment Unit,

(iii): Fractional Distillation Unit, (iv): Filtration Unit,

(v): Gases absorption Unit, (vi): Multifunction Reactor Unit,

(4): Principle Investigator for the project awarded from the Engineering Education Development Project, (EEDP, Ministry of Higher Education 1992), for the development of both Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Physics Laboratories and implementing the Project.

(5): Establishing and Managing "The Environmental Impact Assessment Studies & Environmental Consultation Center " of Mansoura University. (Since its establishment in 1997 till 2004). This Center Executes several activities on the scale of the University under the supervision of Vice President of Mansoura University for for Community Services & Environmental Development Affairs.

(6): Principle member in the preparing and implementing team for the Programme offering MSc Degree in Environmental Engineering, Management& Technology. In the credit hour system at Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University. This protect executed in the frame of the Main Project for Developing Higher Educational Institutes in Egypt (TEMPUS), 2005.

In Field of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Educational Institutions

(1): Principle Investigator,(PI), of the Project for Establishing an Internal System for Quality Assurance in the Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University. In the frame of the National Quality Assurance & Accreditation Project, (QAAP). This project aims to establish a unit and set a system to prepare the Faculty for application for Accreditation. The main outputs of this project are the dissemination of quality assurance culture for all members of the institution and training staff for continual development of all the Quality and Accreditation activities requirements.

(2): Expert in the Engineering Education Development Project, (EEDP, Ministry of Higher Education, 1992), for assessing and reviewing projects presented from different Engineering institutions in developing its courses.

(3): Member of the Ternary Committee for developing and setting academic standards of the "Engineering Chemistry" Course to be issued in Higher Institution of Engineering Education. In the frame of the activities of the Engineering Education Development Project, (EEDP, Ministry of Higher Education 1993).

(4): Coordinator of the Project for developing a credit hour system in cooperation with European Universities to set a programme in MSc Degree in Environmental Engineering, Management& Technology. at Faculty of Engineering- Mansoura University with the University of Abertay Dundee, UK and Shool of engineering-National Technical University of Athens, (NTUA), Greece, Eligibility period was from 1st of September 2004 to 31st of August 2007. The proposed programme designed to promote the renewal and reform of the higher education system in the area of Environmental Engineering, Management and Technology. The main outcome of the project is the establishment of a new post-graduate MSc degree programme at Mansoura University. It focuses on the introduction of modern student based teaching approaches and on the improvement of courses quality using information technology and modern equipment. It also aims at forming a model for MSc study following the credit hours system and creating an educational portal to promote the collaboration and exchange of ideas between teaching staff and students. In this project, sharing the experience gained with other foreign universities and acting as a contact and information exchange point in curriculum development for local higher education.

(5): Attending training workshops for training of the trainers (TOT) in the frame of Fellow and Leaders Development Project, (FLDP, Ministry of Higher Education) at Mansoura University, The attending Programme was for developing Managerial Skills (from the 7th of August to the 10th of August, 2005).

(6): Attending training workshops for Leaders Development, in the frame of Fellow and Leaders Development Project, (FLDP, Ministry of Higher Education) at Mansoura University, (November, 2006).

(7): Follow up with Managerial support for Educational Development project for implementing e-Learning in the Faculty. These projects funded in the frame of the activities of Higher Education Enhancement Project Fund, (HEEPF). From these projects;

(i): Enhance Modern Electronics Courses for the e-Learning Era. (2005)

(ii): Use of Centrifuges as Educational Tools and Base for Virtual Laboratories in Civil Engineering. (2005)

(8): Peer reviewer in the team allocated for the site visit in the developmental engagement of the Faculty of Engineering- Minia University in the frame of the strategic objectives of the National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee, (NQAAC) to prepare Higher Education Institutions to qualify for application for Accreditation. (November, 2006).

(9): Chair of peer reviewer's team allocated for the site visit in the developmental engagement of the Faculty of Petroleum and Mining Engineering- Suez Canal University in the frame of the strategic objectives of the National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee, (NQAAC) to prepare Higher Education Institutions to qualify for application for Accreditation. (February, 2007).
