Slope-Intercept Form Line Art

Objective: Create a picture, using graph paper, and determine the equation of each line used within your drawing.

Steps:

1.  Get a piece of graphing paper and design a picture. The picture should have at least:

·  TEN (10) lines with a positive slope

·  TEN (10) lines with a negative slope

·  FIVE (5) lines with a zero slope

·  FIVE (5) lines with an undefined slope.

2.  Color the picture that you created.

3.  Label each line of your drawing with a # from #1 - #30

4.  Determine the equation for 12 out of 30 lines created. You need to find the equation of at least one line from each category. (So, you need to create an equation for at least one line with a positive slope, one line with a negative slope, one line with a zero slope, and one line with an undefined slope.)

5.  Complete the attached information for your picture.

Other Information Needed:

·  This will be a Quiz grade

·  All work needs to be shown to receive full credit.

PROJECT WILL BE DUE: October 26th 2012

Answer the following:

1.  For every vertical line in your graph, the slope is: ______.

2.  For every horizontal line in your graph, the slope is: ______.

3.  Suppose you have the points (5,8) and (2,3). How do you create an equation, in slope-intercept form, that passes through these two points? (Make sure to show ALL work so a friend could look at your work and see what you did)

4.  What is the equation of a line that has a slope of zero and a y-intercept of 4?

5.  What is the equation of a line that has a slope of 3 and a y-intercept of -3?
