PRODUCTION POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: House Manager

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION OF POSITION: Fresno State

DATES OF SERVICE: early- June through July 27, 2017 (exact dates TBD)

RATE OF PAY: TBD

WORK SCHEDULE: 15-40 hours per week, Sunday through Saturday, evenings and weekends

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS, AND DUTIES:

1.  Ensure the safety and comfort of patrons at public events. Make sure that venues are clean before and after events, and that equipment such as seats and doors are in proper working order.

2.  Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Production Stage Manager, Technical Director, or Lead Technician, before, during, and following all public performances.

3.  Maintain clear communication with the Box Office before the performance regarding getting patrons into the venue prior to the start of the event and deliver audience information to the Box Office during and following the event.

4.  Obtain knowledge of performance descriptions and relay to usher staff and patrons.

5.  Oversee the scheduling and monitor the progress of event ushers.

6.  Submit House Management reports for each public event immediately following the event.

7.  Oversee the set up of post-event receptions, working with the university catering staff on locations of tables, proper times to set up, and clean up at the end of the reception.

8.  In coordination with the Box Office, maintain a log of lost and found items to be stored in the Summer Arts Office.

9.  Attendance required at CSU Summer Arts employee orientation and other functions.

10.  Other related duties as required and assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·  This position requires in depth knowledge of the following: scheduling, coordinating, project development, and community services.

·  Must present a professional and calm front office image.

·  Must be able to address multiple issues, tasks, and people simultaneously.

·  Individual must be spontaneous, dependable, and a self-starter with the ability to problem-solve under pressure and work well with others.

·  Previous experience as a house manager necessary.

·  Knowledge of theatre etiquette, standards, and protocols.

·  Must be able to safely lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

·  Must be able to work in low light areas and/or areas of restricted physical access.

·  Must have transportation to off campus venues and events, as necessary.

·  Candidate must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

·  As a temporary hire, the candidate is not eligible to receive insurance, vacation or sick leave benefits.
