Product Merchandising Tip List

Product Merchandising Tip List

·  Determine with your client what products you want to offer in the store

·  For most stores, you should limit your selection to 25-40 products

·  Consider the suppliers you want to work with on a regular basis.

·  If working with BN’s top tier suppliers, ask MC for a supplier agreement to qualify for EQP (or better), no set up charges etc.)

·  IF YOU WILL HAVE SET UPS, you should factor them into your product pricing. It is hard to capture the appropriate charges thru the online store.

·  Product Description – You can grab the description from the supplier’s website for each product. HOWEVER, it is better to provide some enhancements like the client’s use for this product or some other “marketing angle”. ADDITIONALLY, if all of your pricing in the store will be based on a 1 color (or 2 color etc.) imprint, then you should add this to your description. Consider the most user-friendly way to describe your product. Example:

This tote bag is ideal for your frequent tradeshows and opportunity fairs.

·  Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 2

·  Material is 100% recycled cotton

·  Logo imprint is centered on the front

·  Pricing is based on a 1 color imprint

(You can of course do a typical paragraph description, but bullets make it easier to identify key features)

·  Consider the product colors available (all that the supplier provides, or limited to match their corporate color scheme)

·  Consider the imprint colors available. Can they only order the product “as is” so if the virtual image is a white imprint on a blue bag, that’s what they get. Or, can they select from imprint colors or enter in their own? Consider the client’s brand standards you are trying to stick with.
