EXMOUTH ILLUMINATED CARNIVAL

SATURDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2015

The procession starts at 19:30from the roundabout at the top of Royal Avenue, left onto Imperial Road / Marine way, right onto Exeter Road, right onto the parade and finishes at the Strand Pub mini roundabout where Marshalls will direct you at the end of the procession to your dispersal point. The route is approx. 1 ¾ miles long and is completely flat.

ASSEMBLY AREAS:Please check in with the Marshall on Estuary Road for your judging numbers.

Floats - Coach / Lorry park, Estuary Road. (marked in yellow on the map)

Walkers - Car park, Estuary Road. (marked in green).

These areas will be available from 16:00.

TOILETS:Public toilets are situated at the bus and train station & outside Exmouth Rugby Ground.

COLLECTIONS:Only official collecting buckets / cans withExmouth carnival stickers on are to be used.

They will be available from approximately 17:00 at the assembly area.

Each entry will receive 25% of their collection, along with any prize money won, by post within two weeks of the Carnival.

JUDGING:ALL FLOAT AND WALKING CLASSES WILL BE JUDGED FROM 18:00.

All judging must be completed by 19:00 ready for the procession line up on Royal Avenue.

Props worn / carried at judging are to be worn / carried throughout the procession & should not be removed until the procession has ended. Early removal may forfeit your class place. (Subject to weather conditions / safety).

All float classes, overall float & overall walker cupswon can be kept for 1 year and must be returned prior to Carnival night.

Failure to return the cups will result in replacement at your expense.

Carnival Rules

  • The carnival isFREE to enter.
  • The carnival committee reserve the right to refuse any entry.
  • All entrants that take part in the carnival procession do so at their own risk.
  • Entries will not be accepted without an entry form.
  • All entrants must complete the whole route.
  • All floats are restricted to 15 feet in height (from ground level).
  • Floats must have a valid VSO (vehicle special order), if applicable, or an exemption letter.
  • All vehicles must be road legal (valid insurance, vehicle tax, MOT test and a qualified driver)
  • All vehicles must be road worthy and maintained in good working order (lights, brakes, suspension, tyres etc.).
  • Tow connections must comply with current regulations (extra safety chain and warning signs).
  • Floats should have wheel chocks, first aid kit and a working fire extinguisher, which is tested annually.
  • All passengers must be secured to the vehicle with suitable restraint or barrier which is then secured to the float. Standing chains should be long enough for one step only.
  • It’s the entrants’ responsibility to ensure they have enough road crew for their float.
  • All entrants must remain with their vehicle / group entry during the procession.
  • Water or other items should not be directed at spectators from any entrant.
  • NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED as this will mean instant disqualification.
