PROCEEDINGS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION

The School Board of Independent School District #2215 held its regular board meeting on

Monday, November 17th, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in Twin Valley, MN.

Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Opsahl.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Members present: Sather, Stene, Douville, Nelson, Opsahl.

Also present: Superintendent Lundin, H.S. Dean of Students-Cassandra Hoseth, Elementary

Dean of Students- Pam Gunnerson, Marcia Liebl, Mari jo Vik & LaVon Olson.

Motion by Nelson, second by Stene to approve the amended agenda as presented. F. 2014-2015

Budget.

Discussion: None. All in favor. Motion carried.

Chairperson Opsahl welcomed all visitors.

Motion by Douville, second by Sather to approve the October 20, 2014 regular board minutes as

presented.

Discussion: None. All in favor. Motion carried.

District Contribution

None

Pine to Prairie

No meeting. House is sold but not moved from our parking lot yet. Needs to be moved for snow.

St. Council

No report

Long Range Planning Report

Finance Committee will meet and look at 2014-2015 Budget. Goal is to re-address the

Referendum Vote and see what next steps need to be taken.

Enrollment

Enrollment is at 290. High School: 149. Elementary: 141

Financial Reports/Approval of Bills/Electronic Transfers

Motion by Opsahl, second by Nelson to approve the payment of checks #32497-#32571 and all Electronic Transfers and Wires of $87,189.99. (Payroll) and $ 225,000.00 (MSDLAF) as presented.

General $82,768.86

Payroll $30,361.23

Audit Review

Brian Opsahl from Brady Martz & Associates attended the meeting and went over the 2013-2014

audit results. The district is doing fine and there are no concerns in their audit. The board thanked him for his report.

Election Results

Election results were canvassed. Question 1 passed by a vote of 377-308. Question 2 failed by a

vote of 336-354. School Board members elected were Jason Douville and Tracy Stene. Write in

candidate votes were Kaylie Bekkerus~66; Abby Stueness-~64, and Greg Sagedahl`43.

Motion by Sather to accept the results of the election, second by Nelson and to congratulate

Kaylie Bekkerus as the new board member.

ASEC Resolution

Motion by Douville, second by Stene to approve the ASEC Resolution for Special Education funds.

Roll Call: Yes: Sather, Stene, Douville, Nelson, Opsahl. No: None

Discussion: None. All in favor. Motion passed.

Proposed Budget

Motion by Douville, second by Nelson to approve the 2014-2015 budget.

Discussion: None. All in favor. Motion carried.

Elementary Dean of Students

1). Pepfest held for Football Team.

2). Step Out – 1st grade recognized.

3). Veteran’s Day Program ~ Grades 1-3 sang.

4). PTC ~ totals of parents were down.

5). Book Fair ~ $4,196.00 was sold. 119 new books for library, 35 for Reading Incentive, 81

Books for classrooms and 285 prizes were given out.

6). Bingo for Books ~ 110 participated.

7). Literacy Meeting ~ How to use info from Reading Academy.

8). K-2 will be attending MSUM to see “The Jungle Book” on Nov. 20th.

9). Climb Theatre will present “Respect” on Nov. 21.

10). Donation of $500 for the Backpack Program from First National Bank of Twin Valley.

High School Dean of Students

1). Solo Contest were held on Nov.10th and 4 students attended.

2). Testing is now taking place.

3). National Honor Society Banquet on Nov. 17th.

4). Boys Basketball games have been rescheduled due to football playoffs. First game Dec. 1st.

5). High School Concert on Dec. 15th.

6). PTC ~ 40 ~50 parents attended.

7). Book Fair during conferences and Eli Bentley also preformed.

8). Veteran’s Day Program put on by St. Council.

9). Student Peer Mentors are being trained at this time.

10) Fitness Trainer will be in with 8th, 9th, and 10th grades on Nov. 18th.

Superintendent

1). World’s Best Workforce Plan – SAC Committee will work on this.

2). Administrative Forum Meeting on Nov. 19th in Thief River Falls. Legislators will be there.

3). Joint Power Board Election. If interested in running let Supt. Lundin know.

4). Supt. Lundin thanked the community and all fans for their support for the Titans Football

Team.

Upcoming Meetings

1.) Regular Board Meeting ~ December 15, 2014~ 5:00 p.m. ~ Board Room

2). Winter Concert ~ December 15th, 2014 ~7:00 p.m.
