Highlands Heat Volleyball Club

PARENT POLICY

Welcome to the 2016 Highlands Heat Volleyball Club Season. We are very excited to have you and your athlete as a part of our volleyball family, with everyone’s help and cooperation this will be a very successful year for our club.

PROGRAM GOALS

The athlete will develop a positive attitude towards the club, teammates, and coaches.

The athlete will learn that being successful is learning to set goals and striving to achieve these goals both in practice and competition.

The athlete will learn respect for themselves, their teammates, coaches and officials.

The athlete will learn leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork.

The athlete will improve athletic abilities and skills at all age levels.

We ask that you, as a parent, help us attain these goals. Please refrain from criticism of your child, a teammate of your child, or coach, the opposing players and officials.

Positive involvement is very much encouraged. Please refrain for shouting technical instruction to players as this tends to be confusing to the athletes and can undermine the coach, Their coach(es) will the only ones to give instruction.

Listed below are “10Guidelines for being a positive parent”, for which we will comply:

1.Cheer your player on, be supportive, console, but do not judge the athlete, coach, officials, or teammates.

2.Many things will aggravate you that do not faze your player. Do not make something an issue that is not.

3.Encourage your athlete to seek answers. Coaches respect players that come to them and privately question their playing time or role; it immediately indicates they want more.

4.Understand the rules of the game and the coaches philosophy.

5.Do your physical part as a parent. Get your child to practice on time and pick them up promptly. Demonstrating responsibility and commitment can be incredibly effective.

6.Positions and talent sometimes do not match up. Coaches attempt to do what is best for the team, putting the best physical mix and best “chemistry” on the court. That may mean that sometimes your athlete may be playing “out of position” in an attempt to strengthen the team. A positive spin by you can go a long way in helping your child adjust to a new role. Stay positive and your child will flourish.

7.If you have real concerns and your athlete has attempted unsuccessful to work things out with the coach on their own, schedule a meeting with the director Shane Wirries 863-381-9425.

8.Never approach a Coach with complaints during a tournament. Wait and schedule a visit at a later date.

9. Please think before criticing anyone connected with the club or your athlete’s team. Criticism is contagious and often hurtful. The damage can be irreversible.

10.Visibly show that you enjoy watching your child preform; this will make them feel better about individual participation, no matter what the role is.

While we so not anticipate any personal problems, if they arise they will be dalt with by the Highlands Heat director and coaches. You may be asked to leave tournaments and/or practices.
