Procedure for Practitioner Membership Application or Renewal of

The Hong Kong Institute of Housing

(1)Applicants are required to meet the following membership application requirements as set by The Hong Kong Institute of Housing (“the Institute”).

(3)Applicants must submit their application form (original) together with relevant proof of their academic qualification/QF level qualification and working experience, to the Secretariat Office of the Institute at:

(4)After preliminary vetting of the submitted documents, if all the application requirements are met, the applicants will be provided with the Practical Experience Requirement (PER) Booklet by the Secretariat Office via email.

(5)Upon completion of the PER Booklet, applicants must return the original Booklet together with cheques for a vetting fee, entrance fee and annual subscription fee to the Secretariat Office for further vetting by the Education Committee of the Institute. (6)Applicants may be required to attend an interview or otherdesignated assessment, if necessary, during the process of the application.

(7)Applicants will be informed of their admission approval/rejection by written notice, for successful admission, applicants will further be informed of collection of Membership Certificate and relevant membership information by the Secretariat Office of the Institute.

(8)Upon successful admission as a Practitioner, the abbreviated title of “P.H.K.I.H.” may be used to denote his/her membership.

(9)As Practitioners, they are required to participate in the mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually from 1 December to 30 November of the next year, and are required to accumulate a minimum of 10 CPD units per annum for membership renewal.

Allocation of the 10 CPD units according to the following categories:

˙Education & Training –A formal activity or structured programme of learning / training related to PM;

˙Professional Practice – Any activity which involves PM related practices and / or skills;

˙Personal Development – Any activity or self-study which develops your personal skills or knowledge in the PM profession / industry.

(10)Newly admitted Practitioners are not required to fulfill the mandatory CPD requirement for the year that he / she is admitted; for example, one was admitted as a Practitioner in June 2013, he / she is required to fulfill the CPD requirement from1 December 2013 to 30 November 2014 for 2015 membership renewal.

Application Requirements for Practitioner Membership (P.H.K.I.H.) of The Hong Kong Institute of Housing

Upon fulfilling the following application requirements, you are welcomed to download the Membership Application Form and Practical Experience Requirement (PER) from website of The Hong Kong Institute of Housing (“the Institute”), please fill in and submit with details of related academic qualification/QF level and working experience with proof for verification.

Part I:Academic Qualification / QF Level Requirement

Applicants are required to meet one of the academic qualifications / QF level in Item (A) to (C) below:

(A)Holder of local Bachelor degree (or above)

Holder of Bachelor degree (or above) in the following local universities or recognized colleges and such degree is not related to courses accredited by the Institute.

The General Council of the Institute would consider on case by case basis for degree holder of other courses in local/non-local universities or colleges which have been assessed by Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).

(B)Higher diploma / high certificate on property management courses in recognized local universities, vocational institutions or other educational organizations (the academic level has met Level 4 or above of the Qualifications Framework (QF) as assessed by HKCAAVQ).

(C)Property management course of Vocational Training Council with QF Level 4 in 5 units of Competency (UoCs), among which 3 units of competency should be the core ones.

Part II:Working Experience

Applicants are required to have at least 6 years accumulative working experiences in property management, with current employment in a Hong Kong housing body or housing organization as full time practitioner in Supervisory Level or above.

Part III:Practical Experience Requirement (PER)

Applicants are required to complete the Practical Experience Requirement (PER) Booklet with related experiences which should have been incurred within 2 years from the date of submission of the Membership Application. The completed PER Booklet must be submitted to the Institute for vetting within 6 months from the date of issuance, otherwise the Institute has the right to reject the concerned Application.
