PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING A SEWAGE PERMIT
Permits are required for installing, repairing, or altering any on-lot sewage system.
Permits for on-lot sewage systems in Liberty Township are handled by:

Getting Your New System Installed
1. Contact the Liberty Township office at 2857 Mercer Butler Pike, Grove City, PA 16127, Ph. 724-794-1773 as they may have specific requirements/regulations with which you may need to comply.
2. Have a good idea where you plan to build, etc., and have your property lines marked.
3. “Call Before You Dig” Place a call to PA One Call, 1-800-242-1776. Let them know you are doing a perc test. You will be assigned a PA One Call Ticket Number which you must record for your records. PA requires 3 day’s notice prior to excavation.
4. Contact the Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) assigned by Liberty Township. Arrangements need to be made for the SEO, your excavator, and yourself to meet at the property for the soil evaluation.
5. If the soils are satisfactory, your SEO will make arrangements with you to do the perc test.
6. If the perc test passes, the results will be given to your contractor. If it fails to pass, you will be notified by mail.
7. If your project is undergoing subdivision, required DEP planning modules will need to be approved before your permit can be issued.
8. Once you receive notice that the perc test passes, your system must be designed by a contractor that is licensed with this agency (see list below).
9. Submit design to your SEO for approval. Once approved, a permit will expire 3 years from the date of issue.
10. Your SEO must be notified to arrange for final inspection of your system. At this point, your system will be installed but not yet covered.
