ETI Inspection

Following our inspection on 5 October 2016, I am delighted to report that we received the best possible outcome and have been placed in the highest band of sustainability;

“The school has a high level of capacity for sustained improvement in the interest of all the learners. The ETI will monitor how the school sustains improvement.”

The inspectors said that we had created a highly effective learning environment with highly motivated staff, dynamic leadership and children who were well mannered, articulate and inspired in their learning.

As a school community, we couldn’t be more proud!

Book Fair

September’s Book Fair was a huge success. A total of £718.48 worth of books were sold and the school benefited from 60% of this in free books. Thank you kindly for your generosity and support.

School Council

Following a fun filled day of manifestos and canvassing, the votes have been counted and our School Councillors are in place. Keep an eye on the website’s School Council page for frequent updates.

Harvest Assembly

Our Harvest Assembly will take place on Wednesday 26 October. In keeping with tradition, I would kindly ask each family, to send some small contribution by way of flowers, fruit , vegetables (tinned, dried or fresh) and/or any other useful foodstuff such as tea, coffee or sugar, to school on Tuesday 25 October. These will be taken by our school choir to the Resource Centre and St Macartan’s Home in Clogher after the harvest service. The choir members will also provide some music for the elderly residents. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Maths Week Ireland

In order to enrich the children’s learning experiences and to support Maths Week Ireland, we will be bringing ‘Maths to Life’ by bringing our maths lessons into the outdoors during the week of 17-21 October. Keep an eye on our website for further details and photographs.

Parent/ Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher Interviews will take place on 2ndand 3rdof November 2016. Parents should contact the school office in order to make an appointment.

Carntall PTA

Following the success of last year, our PTA will meet for the first time on Tuesday 18 October at 7.00pm to plan for the year ahead. We would actively encourage new parents/members to come along and get involved. As a school, we are ever grateful for the hard work and commitment of the members of our PTA. Their 2015/16 fundraising efforts have enabled us to purchase new numeracy resources for the school, outdoor play equipment and a full reading scheme for KS2. Thank-you!

Save the Date-Choir participating in the RBL’s Festival of Remembrance!

This year, our school choir have been invited to represent the Clogher Valley primary schools by participating in the Royal British Legion’s ‘Festival of Remembrance’ on 26th October, in Corick House Hotel (8pm). This is a ticket only event and tickets are available from members of the Royal British Legion.

Shared Education

In Term 1, P3&4 are participating in a shared learning experience based on the topic of transport. P1&2 and P6&7 will participate in shared education during Term 2 and P5 in Term 3.

P3/4 parents-Please Note: A parent participatory session will be held in Augher Central PS from 1:30-3pm on Tuesday 18 October 2016. This will offer parents from all three schools to actively engage in their children’s shared learning experience. ALL P3&4 children must be collected from Augher Central at 3pm on that day.

Special Olympics Awareness Week

In order to build awareness of and to support the Special Olympics, we will be having a ‘Sporting Hero’ themed Non-Uniform Day on 27th October. Also on that day, a member of the Ulster Special Olympics team will visit our school and give our pupils a talk on the benefits of sport and how the Special Olympics are changing lives. Children are asked to bring £1 into school on the morning of the event.

Assessment Week

Term 1 assessments will take place during the week of the 17-21 October. It would therefore, be helpful if any planned absences could be avoided during that week.

Football/Netball Tournament

Our school Football and Netball Teams will participate in a tournament on 20th October in Fivemiletown College. Children will be back at school for the lunch time meal and a snack will be provided. Those participating should sign and return the attached reply slip.
