Friends of ABC,November 2017

ABC is a babywith a bold strategy. We are passionate about sustainability, a rare commodity in Africa.

(R: ABC Office, Fred & Andrew, leaders)

Strategy #1: Small budget:

For five years ABC plans to be small. The first year budget is $75,000 of the $110,000 that was raised. Later we hope to explode!

Strategy #2: Raise thefunds

for a budget yearbeforethat year begins.

Strategy #3: Invest 10% of donations

tosupportABC in 3-5 years. These invested gifts will grow before they start changing Rwanda. In 5 years, look out Rwanda!

(Below: Mt 4:4 training of 9 churches in Muhanga, Rwanda)

This “bold” plan trusts God to make us Sustainable, and Strong before asking Godto let us explode across Africa.

ABC’s mission is to wipe out biblical illiteracy in Rwanda and Africa. Under this mission are three main goals:

(1) Create Matt. 4:4 oral Bible reading groups

(2) Provide rural pastoral training for

churches committed to Scripture

(3) Extend compassion to the communities where we minister.

(R: Mom, baby & Bible during Matthew 4:4)

Goal 1: Matthew 4:4 groups

The Matthew 4:4 groups continue to grow. Recently we had a Matthew 4:4 one-day conference for the leaders of Matt. 4:4 churches. Seventeen churches and 65 leaderswere represented. At this meeting their church Bishop declared that they were committed to have Matthew 4:4 in every one of their 70 churches. Currently there are about80 total Matthew 4:4 groups located in Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Uganda and Tanzania.

Goal 2: Rural pastor training:

Our second cohort of 35 pastors is even more enthusiastic than the first. They are reading through the entire Bible in the breaks between modules. I taught Bible Study Methods to the pastors using Ruth and Colossians.

Our first ABC scholarship has been awarded to John, an excellent

student from our first cohort. He is thriving in the bachelor’s program

at Africa College of Theology in Kigali.

(L: John,our first scholarship recipient)

Goal 3: Compassion

ABC is committed to show compassion in the communities where we minister. ABC has six churches in Burundi with Matthew 4:4 groups. Because of the political unrest, many children are starving. ABC sent food and support through our volunteer John Peterworks with those churches.

(R: John Peter appeals to ABC for Burundi)

On October 14, 2017 local political leaders gathered to announcethat ABC had donated to a government medical insurance plan. This donation provided166 of the poor with basic medical insurance at local clinics. The churches helped to arrange this compassion initiative to the Kabarore area.

The “Friesen Fortnightly” stopped for 3 months when the host had to discontinue. It will re-start soon.
