Primary PE and SPORTS FUNDING 2015-16
The Government is providing funding for schools to improve the quality of PE and Sport for all children. All primary schools receive £8000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil per academic year. At Heather, we received £8,515in total. This money must be spent on improving the provision of PE and Sport for the benefit of all pupils registered at that school so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles.
Heather Primary School has bought into Option 4 being offered by the North West Leicestershire Schools Sports Partnership (NWLSSP). See ‘Our option with NWLSSP’ for full details. The cost of this was £4500 plus £5 per pupil which equates to £5015(based on 103pupils).

THE IMPACT
Measuring the impact of our School Sport Funding will be achieved in different ways. We will look at progress in PE, as well as other areas of development such as self-esteem, confidence and the number of children involved in sporting activities within and out of school.
IMPACT FROM 2014-15 SPORTS FUNDING
In 2013-14 we achieved the Bronze Kite Mark in the Sainsbury’s School Games, so we looked at what we needed to do to gain Silver and with the support of the NWLSSP and the funding we were able to achieve Silver in 2014-15. We are now aiming for Gold this year and have identified the areas we need to work on. We also established our first team of Bronze Ambassadors in 2014-15 and are keen to build on the success of this during 2015-16. See ‘SSG Mark Criteria 2015-16’ for more information about the different Kite Marks.
Action points for 2015-16:
- Attend more competitions and festivals where possible allowing more children to participate in level 2 competitions.
- Hold more level 1 events throughout the school year.
- Take advantage of CPD offered for teaching staff and support staff – every teacher to attend at least 1 CPD course a year
