Mission Statement: A Celebration of Price County’s Best – Something for Everyone

Members Present: John Vlach, Michelle Drobnik, Krista Polansky, Joyce Lind, Sue Polacek, Miriam Lyons. Deb Urbanik, Treasurer, and Jan Hardginski, Secretary. Excused: Cathy Noftz, Peter Dahlie, John Walasek Guests: Gail Huycke.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Lind.

Public Comment: Jerry Armatowski would like to use the parking lot of the fairgrounds for an auction at his home on August 30. Motion by Drobnik, seconded by Lyons that the Board allows use of the parking lot only for his auction. Motion passed. Motion by Lyons, seconded by Polansky to charge him $100. Motion passed. Price Electric would like to use the fairgrounds for their member breakfast on October 17 and would like to have the water left on. This would be Keith Laatsch’s call. We have been asked by the Park Falls Chamber to bartend on Saturday, August 1 from 5-9 p.m. After a show of hands, we do not have the manpower this year. Lind will contact them. Vlach has a donation check from the Moose Lodge for $161.00. For this they would like to be able to hang a banner in the Wildlife Building and obtain 2 free vendor passes. Motion by Drobnik, seconded by Lyons to accept this check with our thanks. Motion passed.

Motion by Drobnik, seconded by Polacekto approve the minutes of June 23, 2015 with the correction that Polacek was present at the meeting. Motion passed.

Senior Meal: The Price County Health Alliance will do the Senior Meal this year. Motion by Drobnik, seconded by Popejoy to give them 7 vendor passes. Motion passed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Entertainment Committee: Adam Kielsmeier will be our auctioneer for the Antique Auction and the Chainsaw Carving. The rules for the Demo Derby are on the website, as is the registration for the Color Run. We need the rules for the Karaoke and the Human Foosball to be put on the website. Hardginski will take care of the Scout contract and get it to Lind ASAP. There were questions about the sound system and Polacek will contact Dale Houdek to see if he could give the Board some training on the sound system.

Buildings and Grounds:We have the septic contract. Laatsch has told Vlach that we do not need to lock the gates during the summer months, but they should be closed. We are still looking for paint donations. The Board looked over the camping map and approved it.

Exhibits and Livestock. Popejoy and Polacek will send items to Hardginski for the Facebook page.

Fundraising/Public Relations: Lind gave out posters to be posted. Reminder to take fair signs to put up. Suggestions were given for our Outstanding Fair Person. After discussion it was voted that Lee Foster be our 2015 Outstanding Fair Person for all the time he donates to the fair. Popejoy will work on getting the plaque for him.

Policy: The resolution for the county needs clarification. Lind has been corresponding with Jean Gottwald and will continue working on this.

Commercial/Vendors: Did not meet but we could use more of both.

Finance: Outstanding checks:Motion by Vlach, seconded by Polansky to approve the Workman’s Comp for $905 from Middlesex Insurance Company. Ideas were thrown out on how we could improve the fairgrounds with a Heritage Credit Union Richard J. McGrath Endowment Fund Grant if this was awarded to us. Polacek asked for volunteers to help at the food stand at the Antique show.

Next Meeting Dates: July 23 and August 4. All meetings are at 6 p.m. and at the fairgrounds.

Motion by Drobnik, seconded by Vlach to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. Meeting adjourned.
