In the Name of God Amen I Alice Preston
of Settle in the County of York Widow being weak in Body but of sound mind and memory
praised be almighty God for the same do make this my last will and testament (in manner & form)
following that is to say first my will and mind is and I do hereby order and appoint (that)
all my just debts funeral Expences probate of this my will and all other Incidence soever
attending the Execution thereof be paid and satisfyed by my Executors hereafter named out of
the rents and profits of my reall Estate and I do hereby Give \and/ Devise unto my Grandaughter Alice
wild daughter of william wild of Otley in the said County Flax draper all those messuages or dwel
=ling houses in Settle wherein both I now live and william waller my tenant and all those
two Closes of Ground in the Township of Settle aforesaid called Reeding with one
Standing \out of/ in the said Closes together with all other my Estate Lands and premisses with the
appurtences in the said Township To have and to hold my Freehold Lands and
premisses unto my said Grandaughter her heirs and assignes for Ever and all my Leashold
premisses to her Executors Administrators and Assignes for and during all such term and Terms and
number of years as I have in the same But if my said Grandaughter shall happen to
die before she attains her Age of twenty one years without Issue of her Body lawfully
Begotten Then my will and mind is and in such Case I do hereby Give and devise
my said messuages Lands and premisses with the appurtences unto my said son in law william
wild to have and to hold the same premisses with the appurtences unto the said william wild
for Ever, paying to my nieces viz. margaret the wife of Thomas Rycroft Elizabeth the
wife of william wildman and Ann the wife of John Leeming the sum of five pounds a
piece to them their heirs Executors or Assignes according to the Tenure or nature thereof
and Lastly I do nominate and appoint the said william wild sole Executor of this my last
will and testament and I do hereby revoke and make void all and Every other will
and wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this only to stand and be
for my last will and testament In Witness whereof I the said alice preston
the testatrix have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of may in the year
of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty nine 1749 Alice Preston her
mark. Signed sealed published and declared by the said testatrix as and for her last
will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and at her request and
in the presence of Each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. Edward
