At approximately 11:30 pm on Tuesday November 6th officers from Atlantic County SWAT Team made entry into the residence and took the suspect from this incident into custody. This ended approximately 7 ½ hours of negotiation by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department’s Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team. During the time this incident was going on the Black Horse Pike was closed to traffic in the area of the incident. Egg Harbor Township Police were also assisted by the Pleasantville Police Department, Atlantic City Police Department SWAT team, the West Atlantic City Fire Company, the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics.

The suspect, Frank Waggenhoffer (49 years of age from Egg Harbor Township), was charged with Terroristic Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Resisting Arrest and Simple Assault. Bail was set by Municipal Court Judge H. R. Switzer at $50,000.00 cash. Waggehoffer is currently undergoing evaluation at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus prior to being committed to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

At 348PM on Tuesday November 6th, Egg Harbor Township Police Officers responded to a residence on the Black Horse Pike, in the area of West Plaza Place, in the West Atlantic City section of the township on the report of threats to kill with a knife.

Upon arrival police learned that the 49 year old male suspect had/has a history of violence, and barricaded himself inside of the residence. He was/is believed to be in possession of a shotgun. Police have reportedly seized two long guns from the garage area of the residence, but have been unable to locate the aforementioned shotgun. The surrounding residences were subsequently evacuated and traffic on a portion of the Black Horse Pike was/is being diverted. The Atlantic County Emergency Response Team and Hostage Negotiators were dispatched to the scene and are currently attempting to mitigate the situation.
