Unfinished/Old Business:

  1. Beautification/Planting project (October 25)

Pros: Quick and fun

Unstructured move at your own pace

Free food

Cons: not a lot of spirit council kids

Wasn’t a lot of notice

Understandings: This project made the outdoor space of our school more presentable to the public and it felt good to give back.

  1. Red Ribbon Week (October 27-31)

Pros:a lot of participation

Cons:spirit council kids weren’t counted in tally

Some students didn’t get involved in the spirit week.

Some kids didn’t know what they were supposed to wear or if they were wearing the correct item.

Understandings:

Some students don’t feel comfortable, forget, don’t care or aren’t interested in participating.

We sent a good message that staying away from drugs in your life is a good way to live.

  1. New student Tour of the school

Pros: Interview at the end went well

Cons: Disinterested in tour, took too long

Understandings/solutions: make them feel welcome; use their name in conversation.

Shorten the tour. More practice will allow the tour to be more successful. Consider the age of the person on tour.

  1. Clean-up of stage

7 spirit Council girls removed staples, vacuumed and organized boxes on the stage to make it a more usable space for classroom teachers and for assemblies/performances. These girls spend a total of 3 hours over the past several weeks to complete the project
