President's Cabinet Meeting Minutes
January 28, 2014

Executive Level Presentation on CTCLink implementation
Bruce Riveland presented an outline of CTCLink implementation with the assistance of Subject Matter Experts. Barbara Martin from the State Board joined the meeting via telephone from the central CTCLink office. She described the change process.
Safety and Security Report
Ed Call presented a report regarding current safety and security activities. He distributed a security update, and an article from the Bremerton Patriot regarding a specific individual. The cabinet discussed the distribution of duress buttons and expressed an interest in developing a standard for placement of them. The cabinet discussed the need for supervisors to know about employee behavior problems.
Grants Report
Sharon Kline presented a report regarding grant activity. Dr. Mitchell stated that he would pay for additional help for data production for the Aspen Institute grant. Sharon will send the NSF grant text to the cabinet for review.
One Time Allocations to Instruction & Student Services
Dr. Mitchell discussed the methodology for distribution of any available one-time money for next year’s budget. Bruce Riveland passed out a document titled Draft: Tentative Spending Projections showing that a lot of activities are funded with one-time money. If we need to move these to permanent funding, the College will need to find approximately $490,000 in 2015-2016. This would mean cuts elsewhere. Cabinet members were able to identify other items that do not appear of Bruce’s document that would cost even more.
The 2014-2015 One-Time Funding Proposal that is the second part of the Tentative Spending Projections shows projected additional expenses for next year.
Coordination of Surveys
Surveys need to be coordinated through institutional research and planning so that they are more effective and respondents are not exhausted. Mary and Michelle will develop a policy and bring it back to the cabinet.
Education Advisory Board
The cabinet affirmed that the College should follow up and join.
PACE Survey
The survey should come out at the end of February.
Late Registration
Dr. Mitchell reported that he has been told thatour data is showing that cutting the number of late registration days has not improved retention at Olympic College. However, there is concern that it may be negatively impacting enrollment. Mary will bring this forward to the IPC. More research needs to be conducted regarding this issue.
