MONTHLY MEETING – December 2017

MINUTES OF THE TOWN OF CALUMET FIRE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY MEETING HELD AT THE FIREHOUSE ON December 11TH, 2017.

President Jason Mueller called the meeting to order at 7:30pm with31embers present. Minutes of the November monthly meeting were read. Nick Brownsonmade a motion to accept the minutes as read, seconded byMatt Guelig, motioncarried. Minutes of the NovemberDirectors Meeting were read.

President’s report by Jason Mueller:

Old Business

  • The air exchange and furnace are working properly; if anyone comes across an issue with either, please let an officer know.
  • Tender 352 will be getting the rear wheel spacers replaced this week.

New Business

  • The Board of Directors booked the Cabaret in St. Cloud for our 2018 Fire Department Christmas Party. The date is November 3, 2018.
  • The Chilton Holiday Parade was on December 2; thank you to Jr Mier, Kyle Meyer, and Jason Freund for taking a truck and winning best decorated truck.
  • The department will be purchasing 13 Unication pagers with money received from recent vehicle accidents.
  • The membership discussed the possibility of taking money from the volunteer fund and putting it towards paying off Engine 351 if the department does not have enough in the general fund. The discussion will be tabled for January’s monthly meeting.
  • After discussion, Brian Scheer made a motion to have different color options for the department’s apparel. The Board will pick colors close to Sand, Atomic Blue, Neon Yellow, Navy, Kelly Green, Iron Grey, Black, and Purple; and bring the new order sheets and possible samples to January’s monthly meeting. Seconded by Eric Radandt, motion carried.
  • An amendment to the department’s administrative policies was proposed. After reading and discussed, the membership did not accept the amendment to go forward. Recommendations were written down for the Board of Directors to revise the amendment and it will be brought back to the membership at January’s monthly meeting.

Committee Reports:

  • LOSAP – Meeting Soon
  • Pork Chop – The committee is looking for another member; Kyle Meyer would like to join the committee. They will be having a meeting in early 2018.
  • RIT- Just a reminder that RIT passports are in Engine’s 351, 356, and Squad 350.
  • EMRS – The 1st Responders worked on documentation tonight during their meeting. The EMRs voted on their recommendations for officers in 2018. Captain-John Roehrig, 1st Lieutenant-Art Lisowe, and 2nd Lieutenant- Deb Calaway.
  • Dive Team-No Report
  • Recruiting-Meeting in early 2018.

Chief’s report by Brian Schussman:

  • On vehicle accident scenes, if you get blood on your turn out gear please report to an officer right away.
  • The department will be getting fuel from Pipe Express. We will have gas cards in each truck soon. When using the cards, you will have to enter the department’s zip code (53049) and odometer reading (use truck number) and please get recipe for confirmation on bills.
  • With winter coming please use your head when driving and grab a pair of creepers for your boots.
  • When going into Calumet County for a call, remember to call into FDL Dispatch first and then Calumet Dispatch (for a MABAS event call into IFERN MABAS Division 122). Change radios to C bank to be the same as Calumet County departments.
  • Just a reminder that after using SCBA pack to loosen up the straps.
  • The drill at the Mt. Calvary Clinic will be rescheduled.
  • Just a reminder to keep driveways open at fire calls just in case we need a ladder truck to get in there.
  • The air gauges for the air bags were looked at and being worked on.
  • We will try to send out a cancellation text for calls that get cancelled for members who cannot get the message via pager.
  • We will be looking into adding more to our drill sheets to show what each member did at the drill and for driving times for each member.
  • Brian talked about the recent accident call in Calumetville; Chief shared praise from EMS personal and Law Enforcement so good job everyone!
  • A member brought up a concern of going to scenes with personal vehicles instead of coming to the firehouse and getting gear first. After discussion, please come to the fire house and get your gear so you can have on proper PPE.
  • The St. Peter Lions are selling 2018 calendars, if interested please talk to Frannie Guelig.
  • The membership reviewed pictures from recent calls.

Beingno further business, Art Lisowemade a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded byBrian Scheer, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:10pm.
