DOG TRAINING CLUB

1. Name and Objects

The Club shall be called Spalding and District Dog Training Club and its objects shall be to provide classes for the training in obedience and agility for dogs and handlers.

2. Committee

The management of the Club shall be in the hands of a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Instructors and seven other members all of whom shall retire annually but shall be eligible for re-election. Meeting of the committee shall be held as often as deemed necessary and six shall form a quorum for the transaction of business. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members on to the Committee in the event of positions becoming vacant between General Meetings. Those co-opted shall only hold office until the next General Meeting of the Club at which an election of officers and Committee takes place.

3. Subscriptions

A yearly subscription will be charged for each member of the Club - payable March of each year. The Annual Subscription shall be such an amount as agreed by members in General Meeting and notified to the Kennel Club. A training fee will also be charged per dog/person for each session. ***Any person failing to pay their subs by the due date will not be covered by the insurance if an incident occurs.

4. Insurance

The Club shall be insured through any reputable Insurance Company chosen by the Committee. Such insurance shall cover the Club, its Instructors and Members provided no negligence against them can be proved. ***

5. Club Property

The property of the Club shall be vested in the Committee and in the event of the Club ceasing to exist; the funds will go to a registered charity - the Committee to decide which.

6. Annual General Meeting

The financial year of the Club shall be from 1 June to 31 May. The Annual General Meeting shall be held during the first four weeks of the full financial year for the following purposes:

 To receive the report of the Committee and the balance sheet.

 To elect a committee

 To discuss any resolution duly placed on the agenda of which 7 days notice has been given to the Secretary.

Not less than 14 clear days notice of a General Meeting shall be given by publication in the local press and by placing it on the ‘ObedienceUK’ website. Such notice must contain all the relevant information concerning the meeting. The Agenda for the General Meeting shall be circulated at the General Meeting. No business shall be transacted at an Annual General Meeting unless notice thereof appears on the Agenda, with the exception of routine matters or those that, in the opinion of the Chairman of the Meeting, are urgent.

7. Annual returns to the Kennel Club

The Officers acknowledge that during the month of January each year Maintenance of Title fees will be forwarded to the Kennel Club by the Secretary for continuance of Registration and that by 31 July each year other returns, as stipulated in Kennel Club Regulation for the Registration and Maintenance of Titles of Societies and Breed Councils and the Affiliation of Agricultural Societies and Municipal Authorities be forwarded to the Kennel Club. The Officers also acknowledge their duty to inform the Kennel Club of any changes of Secretary of the Society which may occur during the course of the year.

8. Rules

The Rules of the Club may not be altered except at a General Meeting, notice of which included details of the proposal to alter the rules. Such alteration shall not be brought into force until the Kennel Club has been advised and has given its approval of the alteration.

9. Club Accounts

The Club shall have a bank account in the name of The Club into which all revenues of the Club shall be paid and from which withdrawals shall only be made against the signatures of two Officers, one of which shall be the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall keep the accounts and an auditor shall be appointed at each Annual General Meeting who shall audit the Club’s accounts for the ensuing year before the Annual General Meeting.

10. Classes

The Club has vested in the Instructors the right to choose in which class any dog/handler works.

11. Committee Absences

The Committee shall have the right to expel a Committee member after an absence of three consecutive meetings unless through illness or some other justifiable cause and to co-opt members to fill such vacancies that shall be caused in this way.

12. Dogs’ Condition

The Club shall have the power to send home a dog or bitch which, in the opinion of the Instructors, may be ill, injured or any bitch that may be in season.

13. Age

Obedience Classes: Dogs must be over 10 weeks of age

Agility Classes: No dogs will be accepted into these Classes until the age of 12 months and thereafter at the discretion of the Instructors.

14. Inoculation

Whilst The Club cannot insist on owners vaccinating their dogs (conventionally or homeopathically) it will not be held responsible for a dog that becomes ill due to contact with a contagious disease that it could have been inoculated against.

15. Ill-treatment

No dog shall be ill treated.

16. Membership

The Committee shall have the power to refuse membership to any person or persons who they consider could be injurious to the character and interests of the Club.

17. Expulsion of Members

Any member who shall be suspended under Kennel Club Rule A42j (4) and/or any member whose dog(s) is/are disqualified under Kennel Club Rule A42j (8) shall ipso facto cease to be a member of the Club for the duration of eh suspension and/or disqualification.

If the conduct of any member shall in the opinion of the committee of the Club be injurious or likely to be injurious to the character or interests of the Club, the Committee of the Club may, at a meeting, the notice convening which includes as an object the consideration of the conduct of the member, determine that a Special General Meeting of the Club shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/her. Notice of the Special General Meeting shall be sent to the accused member, giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting that s/he may attend and offer an explanation.

If at the Meeting a resolution to expel is passed by a two thirds majority of the Members present and voting, his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of Members and s/he shall thereupon cease for all purposes to be a member of the Club, except that s/he may, within two calendar months from the date of such meeting, appeal to the Kennel Club upon and subject to such conditions as the Kennel Club may impose.

If a Training Club expels any member for discreditable conduct in connection with dogs, dog shows or working trials, the Club must report the matter in writing to the Kennel Club within seven days and supply particulars required.

18. Appointments

The Committee shall have the power to appoint:

a. Head Instructor(s)

b. Instructors and assistant instructors at such times and such periods as may be deemed necessary or desirable.

c. Subcommittees as may be necessary and desirable and may depute to such subcommittees such of its power and duties as it may determine.

19. Responsibility

The Club will not accept responsibility for an occurrence which dog or handler may become involved in.

20. Federation

The Club shall not join any federation of societies or clubs.

21. The Kennel Club shall be the final court of appeal in all matters of dispute.

22. Bankruptcy

No person whilst an un-discharged bankrupt may serve on the Committee or hold any other office or appointment within a Kennel Club Registered Society.

23. Membership List

The Club must make a list of members and their addresses available for inspection if so requested by the members of the Club or by the Kennel Club. A tick box is present on the membership form to signal if a person wishes for their address to be withheld.
