Programs (Laura and Laura)

  • Wine & Savories will be held at Laura Howick’s home Feb 15.
  • Bobbie Dedication / Spring Pot Luck Brunch (April 6) – Need to reschedule events; conflict with Special Town Meeting on 129 Parker Street
  • Designing with Native Plants–MCG invited to Boxboro Garden Club Event
    Tuesday, February 12 9AM at the Sargent Memorial Library. Details on Boxboro Club site
  • The Varied Use of Herbs by Jodie Gilson will be Thursday Feb.28 at the Maynard Public Library; Daniel will be host for the meeting.

Hospitality (Nancy and Julie)

  • Julie Wood will buy a new table to replace her missing one and will submit a receipt for reimbursement.

Buckets & Planters (Barbara)

  • Thank you event for last year’s volunteers still in the planning stage
  • Megan Cryan – Girl Scout Troop volunteered to help with buckets, planters or gardens. It was suggested that they could be asked to paint the second bird house that has been repaired.

Maintenance (Daniel and Jan)

  • More decorations by Debbie Hledik-she is looking for suggestions.
  • 2013 Maintenance Planning Meeting – Denise, Daniel and Jan will meet sometime over the next few week to plan maintenance activities for the year

Plant Sale (Open)

  • First Planning Meeting a success
    Joan Antognoni will be the potting site chair.
  • Rachel Baker confirmed the Potting site will be available for this year’s sale. She is not a members yet but will join soon and help with organizing the sale
  • Minutes distributed and posted on Web site
  • Next Meeting – February 9 10AM at La Mattina Café postponed due to blizzard and rescheduled for February 23, same place and time

Communications Subcommittee (Daniel, Allison, Laura)

  • MCG Communications Plan (initial draft attached) – So far clarifies Offices / Committees roles and responsibilities. It will expand to clarify how and whom to contact for help or questions.
  • Review and send back comments on the draft that was distributed. (Note: Communications is the topic of the President’s Note in Newsletter).
  • Review of on-line communication tools. – Daniel reviewed the purpose of the various MCG email addresses.

Current Action Items

  • Revise Programs Calendar (Laura H)-Done and posted on web site.
  • Maynard High School Buy a Brick Program (Daniel - see attached)
    Daniel took care of this because of the deadline. Cost $200. Everyone was shown the design that will be used.
  • Maynard High School Radio Station sponsorship (Julie), The cost is $100 and will be done in the fall.
  • Bobbie Memorial (Loretta)-working on this
  • Scholarship (Loretta) working on this.; Schools: Maynard, Assabet, Hudson, Charter School.
    Must be a Maynard resident.
  • Farmers Market – decision on attendance alternate weeks. Rescheduled for discussion at the March meeting.

New Business

  • Walcott Wood Conservation Area-Carolyn Wirth presented a proposed community garden plan. It would be on ½ acre.
  • Downtown Maynard Revitalization Project-Carol Leary reported the next meeting will be Wednesday Feb. 27 at Town Hall to discuss the impact study for 129 Parker St.
  • Maynard Business Association-Debbie Hledlik suggested MCG be put on the mailing list for the Art Walk that is being planned in the downtown area.
  • Promote backyard composting-MCG included funds in the budget to support this initiativein to assist with this effort. The second week of May is international compost awareness week; a compost bin distribution (organized by MaynardCAN!) is planned for May 11.
  • Reya Stevens’ partner recently had surgery. They have needed some help while he recovers, particularly with rides to medical appointments in Cambridge and Boston. If you might be able to lend a hand, or want more information, you can contact Reya at . If you want to join their CaringBridge community webpage & be notified of tasks they need help with, Reya can email you an invitation to their CaringBridge calendar/support planner. They would be delighted to have you on their team.
