AGENDA ITEMS / DISCUSSION / RECOMMENDATIONS/ACTIONSTraining Plan / Tony Spinillo requested that we meet to come up with a formal training plan on paper that will cover what, how and who will train general and specific topics in Colleague and the Portal. / Kay will write up a plan based on our conversations and suggestions at this meeting and send it to Tony.
Colleague CORE Training
/ CORE training will continue to be a three-hour workshop that all users MUST attend before attending department-specific training held by Datatel consultants. The CORE training will be taught by User Support trainers. Karen and Terri are presently teaching this workshop. / Karen asked Kay if she can begin teaching the CORE workshop as well. There are three sessions schedule in October. Kay said she would teach one and please send her the dates so she can see which fits into her October schedule.Kathy suggested that we use Tegrity to capture some or all of the CORE training. Attendees could then go back over the material if they wish to have a review. / Everyone agreed with Kathy about utilizing Tegrity. Karen said she would record the important parts of the workshop in her office (not live) and upload them to a new Moodle course/area. Documentation and other aids could also be uploaded to Moodle.
Karen asked Kathy if she could do a short training for the rest of us on Camtasia. Since the Moodle videos are going over so well, she felt we could do short 1-2 minute training videos on Colleague and Portal as well. / Kathy will set this training up.
Terri suggested we do a CORE “refresher” workshop which would consist of a review and additional exercises to reinforce what users learned in the 3-hour workshop. / Karen thought this was a GREAT idea and said she would begin to develop it. It would add to the training users received before attending training with the Datatel consultants.
Department-Specific Colleague Training / It has been reported that many users do not feel they know Colleague well enough in order to teach fellow staff people the system regarding their department specific forms and procedures. Many users felt that User Support trainers should be doing this training. / User Support trainers cannot do this training on their own because they are not the subject matter experts in every office or department on campus plus they do not attend the training held by the Datatel consultants. We will, however, be happy to work with any department collaboratively on a training session, documentation, videos, or any other type of aids they would need. The department would have to train us first though.
Colleague Report-Query Training / Karen will be attending an online Datatel training on this subject and afterwards will develop a general workshop to be taken by those users who attended the CORE training. / Once developed, Terri and Kay will also begin to teach this workshop.
Portal Training / The model for any Portal training will parallel that of Colleague. If it is something general that would be used campus-wide, User Support trainers will develop and deliver the training. We will work with any department that wishes to have our help developing more specific training or documentation.
Adjournment / The meeting adjourned at 2:15 PM
