Our Key Services are:

Dispensing:

We manage the full supply chain of medicines and selected para-pharmaceutical products for the hospital. This includes the negotiation of contracts, the assessment of suitable products and researching and sourcing supplies of suitable medicines. We monitor storage conditions in the Pharmacy Department on a daily basis. We dispense medication for an average population of approximately 270 in-patients, as well as providing stock for Theatre, Out-patients, Oncology and The Emergency Department.

Clinical Ward Pharmacy Service:

A limited clinical pharmacy service is provided to in-patients in a number of wards at UHK. This includes a pharmaceutical review of all prescribed medication. There is also an Antimicrobial Pharmacist at UHK, who oversees the use of antibiotics and other anti-infectives at the hospital. The pharmacist associated with the Oncology Unit aims to monitor the use of medicines there.

Ward Top-up:

We provide a top-up service to several in-patient wards, with trained technicians providing products in accordance with agreed ward stock lists.

Internal Communication & Co-operation:

We participate in hospital committees and provide advice on all pharmaceutical matters for other departments and wards as well as for Hospital Management. Pharmacists also facilitate training in the actions and use of medicines for other disciplines working at UHK.
