Present At Reunion – August 22, 1937

The descendents of Mr. & Mrs. J. Newt Scott met at the home of Mr. And Mrs. J. Newt Scott, Sunday, August 22, 1937 for the purpose of enjoying each other’s company and discussing events of the past year. These meetings have been held annually through the past years, but no reunion had been established.

A conference was called and after discussion a Reunion was organized. Motion and second Brown Scott act as chairman temporarily. Motion carried.

Motion and second the oldest serving member of this organization should be chairman as long as he survives then the next oldest shall take his place. Motion carried, J. Newt Scott, Chairman.

Motion and second we elect Secretary annually. Motion carried.

Nomination for Secretary Laura Kirksey and Coley Scott. Being put to a vote, Laura Kirksey was elected by majority.

Motion and second we meet annually at the home of Mr. & Mrs. J. Newt Scott as long as they survive. Motion carried.

Motion and second that at each Reunion, each member or party present that is eligible of writing shall sign his (or her) name in the Record Book. If party cannot write then someone may sign for him (or her) with his (or her) mark indicated. Motion Carried.

There has been no deceased and three additional since the last annual gathering. Additions: Dossie Kirksey by marriage; Katherine Fae Scott by birth; and S.M. Eudy by birth.

“Events of the Day”

The morning was enjoyed by talking, playing dominoes and forty-two. A large basket lunch was served at the noon hour with lots of fried chicken, gravy, vegetables, salads, cakes, pies and ice tea. The dishes were washed in washtubs by Elbert and Delbert Scott and Spence Eudy. At the gathering of 1936 the dishes were washed by Allen Scott and Brown Scott and Doss Kirksey. The afternoon was spent talking and everyone trying to entertain the others. Doss Kirksey, weighing in at 185 pounds picked up Allen Scott, weighing about 210 pounds and rocked him as a little baby. Pictures were made of the original body. Watermelons were served to all present.

“SCOTT FAMILY REUNION IS HELD LAST WEEK”

The annual Scott family reunion was held August 22 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Newt Scott in the Sidney section. All eight children in the family were present for the gathering.

A delicious basket lunch was served at noon and a watermelon feast was enjoyed in the afternoon.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. Newt Scott, Mrs. And Mrs. Delbert Scott and children of Sidney, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Scott and children of Port Arthur, Mr. and Mrs. Spence Eudy and son of Comanche, Mr. and Mrs. Brown W. Scott and son of Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. T. Scott and children, Mr. and Mrs. J. Allen Scott and children, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Scott and children and Mr. and Mrs. Doss Kirksey, all of Brysonville.

Friends present were Misses Anita Farrar, Willie Irene Redwine and Rubye McCullough of Sidney.
