Preschool Weekly Update for the Week Ending:

November 10th

Our busy week in preschool!

This week we added extra pretend tools to our centers to help learn about many of the people needed to build houses and buildings. This meant the carpenters were busy hammering in dramatic play. The bricklayers in blocks built incredible structures from the bricks. In the sensory table, the plumbers got busy with their wrenches to connect the color-coded PVC pipes and assure the sand could still flow through. In our science center: Discovery, we added electricians, whom got out pliers to connect the wires (actually pipe cleaners) to the panel. They also made incredible light designs with Light Bright. So be sure to ask your preschooler which center they worked at and what they did. We will be keeping these builder roles in the classroom into the new year. They work well with other themes we introduce, such as our farm unit, which we are learning about now and even restaurant, which we will be adding in December.

Reminders about the weather. Our preschool program builds gross motor activities into each day. It is part of our curriculum. It is ideal to have these activities outside, whenever possible. So please make sure your preschooler is dressed to play. Play is a preschooler’s work. Also, dress in layers. The days now start off cooland end a bit warmer. We will make sure the preschoolers are comfortable and appropriate for the temperature outside. Inside, our room remains warm. There is not much we can do to regulate this better. So again, please dress your child in layers! And another note about clothes…..please send long pants for their extra change of clothes boxes. It is difficult to send your students home in shorts in colder months if they had to change clothes. We will send the out-of-season clothes home when the new ones arrive.

Family Participation Day is Friday, November 17th. We will be crafting with those beautiful leaves our students have been collecting. Send in more if you find them! We will also make some pumpkin pie, so it will be a busy day! Look for the invite in your preschooler’s backpack.
