You will also be required to present your Poster at the dedicated Poster Session later that day. Please ensure you are able to attend both of these sessions. POSTER SNAPSHOT SESSION

The aim of the Poster Snapshot Session is to provide a brief overview of all posters accepted for the 2014 Conference. Each of the presenters will have no more than 60 seconds to showcase their work so please prepare 3-5 lively and interesting things to say about yourself and your poster. The purpose of this session is not to give a summary, but to persuade the audience that it is an interesting poster and worth coming to have a look at during the Poster Session later that day. All presentations will be supported by an introductory slide (see guidelines below). No posters will be displayed at this time.

Please arrive at the room by 13:10 and make yourself known to the Chair – Sharon Coen – who will be there to greet you and direct you to an assigned seat. Please note that if you arrive late you will not be able to participate in this session.

  • Logo of your institution (if applicable)
  • A piece of interesting, project-specific information (i.e. a quote, image)

POSTER SESSION

Preparing your Poster

  • Keep your poster clear and brief with as little text as required to get your main messages across.
  • Remember that most people are browsing and therefore reading as they walk so you need to get through to them immediately – hook their attention with a short, sharp title and a strong image or two.
  • The required size of poster is A0 and it should be printed on a single sheet of A0 paper (not multiple sheets of smaller paper) which must be in portrait mode, preferably using colour to support communication.
  • For the convenience of delegates, all presenters are encouraged to make good quality copies of posters and supplementary information available to those attending their session. These may just be a reprint of the poster (if it is readable at A4 size) or may extend upon it and provide further reading – at least 40 copies should be brought to the Conference and you may wish to have a means of velcroing a pocket/folder to the display board to hold the handouts. Please note that copying at the venue can be very costly.
  • There are lots of online resources that can help you out. The following websites have good advice for poster developers:
  • Posters can be made more appealing by improving their clarity, which is best achieved by limiting the poster’s aims and improving design so that the substance of the poster can be captured in around 60-seconds.

At the Conference

Upon arrival at the Conference you will be given velcro to put up your poster. You must be at your poster during the designated Poster Session and may wish to stand by your poster at coffee breaks. At these times you should be prepared to give a short explanation of your research and answer questions. Please note that all Posters will be displayed in LG45throughout the duration of the Conference.
