Preparation Guide for T3 Trainer Instructors

The T3 Workshop page on this website is for trainerinstructors who will be teaching a T3(Train the Trainer) Workshop. Materials are organized in four folders:

  • T3 Prep
  • T3 Trainer Candidate Materials
  • T3 Trainer Instructor Materials
  • T3.5 Training Recording

Except when noted, the materials are posted on the T3 Workshop page of this (University of Colorado) website at: Workshop.aspx.

Note on Terminology: Trainer candidates are Registered QIS Surveyors who are taking part in the T3 training sequenceto become Certified QIS Trainers. A trainer instructor is a Certified QIS Trainer who is leading the T3 Workshop and training sequence.

Trainer Instructors: You are responsible for assembling binders for each trainer candidate in your T3 Workshop. You will need divider tabs and large three-ring bindersto hold the materials.

T3 PREP

This folder contains two documents for use prior to the T3 Workshop.

1)QIS T3 Workshop Logistics Checklist

2)Trainer Candidate Surveys of Record Confirmation: To be completed by the State Agencyprior to the Workshop to confirm that all trainer candidates have completed six surveys of record.

T3 TRAINER CANDIDATE MATERIALS

The trainer instructor will prepare abindercontaining the following for each trainer candidate:

1)Trainer Notes: This is the manual followed by trainer candidates during the T3 Workshop.

2)Instructor Guide (for QIS Classroom Training)

Assembling these documents in a single large three-ring binder will allow easy access during the Workshop.

How to Assemble the Trainer Notes manual

  1. Go to “T3 Trainer Candidate Materials” under “T3 Workshop”on this website.
  1. Download the folder entitled “Trainer Notes”. Open the folder on your computerto print the materials listed below. Print PowerPoint slides three to a page - do not print hidden slides or speaker notes. (You do NOT need to print from the “For T3 Workshop Instructor Guide Only” folder.)
  • T3 Trainer Notes Cover Page andSpine
  • T3 Trainer Notes Title Pages: Insert title pages (and a divider tab) in front of each Tab.

  • Tab 2_T3 Introduction PowerPoint: Print three slides per page.
  • Tab 2_QIS Course Schedule: Place this behind the PowerPoint also in Tab 2.

How to Assemble the Instructor Guide

The Instructor Guide(IG) is the same as the Student Manual used in Classroom Training, except that it is printed with hidden slides and speaker notes, and has different title and cover pages. To assemble the IG:

  1. Go to QIS Classroom Training Materials on this website:
  1. Download the folders entitled “Student Manual MaterialsA”,“Student Manual Materials B”, and “Student Manual Materials C” and openthem on your computer to print.
  1. Open the folder entitled “Print Only for Instructor Guide” and printthe Instructor Guide binder cover, spine, and title pages. The title pages include guidance for trainers and time estimatesfor the lessons.
  1. Print all other documents in the “Student Manual Materials” folders, except for “Binder Covers_Student Manual” and “Pocket Inserts” – see the list below. PRINT ALL POWERPOINT DOCUMENTS FOR THE INSTRUCTOR GUIDEWITH HIDDEN SLIDES AND SPEAKER NOTES. Printing instructions are available at the end of this document.

T3 TRAINER INSTRUCTOR MATERIALS

MATERIALS YOU NEED TO TEACH A T3 WORKSHOP:

You will need the following materials (for yourself, not for the trainer candidates) as you teach:

1)Instructor Guide (for QIS Classroom Training): It is best to use your own Instructor Guide so that you can share notes and hints from your own Classroom Training experiences with the trainer candidates. If you need to print a new Instructor Guide, see the instructionsin the prior section.

2)Train the Trainer Workshop Instructor Guide: You will use this guide to teach the T3 Workshop.

How to Assemble the Train the Trainer Workshop Instructor Guide

The Train the Trainer Workshop Instructor Guide is the same as the Trainer Notes manual followed by trainer candidates during the T3 Workshop, except that it is printed with hidden slides and speaker notes and itincludesa trainer instructor supplement to add to the Agenda inTab 1. To assemble the guide:

  1. Go to “T3 Trainer Candidate Materials” under “T3 Workshop”on this website.
  1. Download the “Trainer Notes” folder (if you haven’t already done so). Open the folder entitled “ForT3 Workshop Instructor Guide Only”and print the following:
  • Title Pages, Cover Page, and Spine. Use these in place of the Trainer Notes cover and title pages.
  • Tab 1_Agenda Supplement. Add thisto the Agenda you print from Tab 1 of Trainer Notes.
  1. Print all other documents in the “Trainer Notes” folder (following previous instructions)except for the Trainer Notes cover, spine, and title pages. PRINT ALL POWERPOINT DOCUMENTS IN THIS GUIDE WITH HIDDEN SLIDES AND SPEAKER NOTES. Printing instructions are at the end of this document.

MATERIALS YOU NEED TO LEARN TO TEACHAT3 WORKSHOP (akaT3.5):

If you have already undergone T3.5 training and feel confident in how to conduct a T3 Workshop, you can skip this section. If you have not yet received training or need a refresher on how to conduct a T3 workshop, you will need the following materials to help you prepare:

1)CMS-Certified QIS Trainer Instructor Training Recording:Click on “T3.5 Training Recording” on the “T3 Workshop” page on this website and download the recording.Reserve approximately four hours to view the recording.

2)Instructor Training Curriculum: Assemble your Instructor Training Curriculum before you listen to the recorded T3.5 training session, as it is referenced throughout the recording.

How to Assemble the Instructor Training Curriculum

  1. Go to “T3 Trainer Instructor Materials” under “T3 Workshop” on this website. Download the folder labeled “Instructor Training Curriculum”.
  1. Open the downloaded folder on your computer and print the following:
  • Cover & Spine_Instructor Training Curriculum
  • Title Pages_Instructor Training Curriculum: TabB does not have a title page; see point 3 below.

  1. Tab B in the Curriculum manual is the Train the Trainer Workshop Instructor Guide, which you will use to teach the T3 Workshop (assembly instructions are in the preceding section). Usethe Train the Trainer Workshop Instructor Guide whenever the recording refers to “Tab B”.

HOW TO PRINT POWERPOINT FILES WITH HIDDEN SLIDES AND SPEAKER NOTES

  1. To include hidden slides when printing, choose “Print All Slides” and be sure that “Print Hidden Slides” is checked. See Screenshot 1.
  2. To include speaker notes, choose “Notes Pages” in Print Layout. See Screenshot 2.
