Preparation for the 8thInternational Adventure Therapy Conference (8IATC) is underway, the first of which Australia hosted 21 years ago, now returns to our shores.

This three-yearly conference brings delegates from over 15 countries together to celebrate and inspire our relationship to our work within the adventure therapy community and adjacent fields. For more on the conference and/or this field of work visit:

Pre and post conference workshops are aninvaluable component, sharing with delegates a deeper experience in the Australian context and within our 60,000 year old Indigenous landscape and/or culture.

We invite your proposal for pre and post conference workshops. The theme for 2018 is Expanding the Circles; as we re-imagine contemporary adventure therapy knowledge and expertise in the light and landscape of ancient place-based practices.

Circles are symbolic of communities, of inclusive practices and wholeness: expanding and contracting yet remaining complete and unbroken. Within international adventure therapy, where do our practices intersect or overlap? Where do new and old meet, and what connects us? What contributions can we make to improve living conditions and environments around the globe? This is a field with ample opportunity for innovation and creativity, and we welcome your contribution. As a part of our commitment to ‘expand the circles’ we encourage engagement from wide-ranging individuals and communities with associated interests.

Please complete the form and submit it to by Monday 27thFebruary 2017.

Important information to consider:

  • Each person(s)/organisation(s) who runs a pre or post program option will be responsible to arrange all the details (e.g., program, venue, accommodation, catering, equipment and materials, budget, etc.).

  • The 8IATC organising committee will oversee the marketing and registration, including collecting payments.
