Description: You will be competing with your classmates to win your music genre in our class Latin Grammy Awards. You will present a song to the class and tell us what genre it is, who the singer is, where the genre and musician are from, the instruments in the song, how you feel about the song, how it makes you feel, and what the song is about. The class will vote on the best song and presentation. The winners will be awarded!!!!!

Step 1:Choose a partner that you know you work well with. Senora will give you a genre and song. You will be competing with one other group for that genre and you will be competing with the entire class for Cancion del ano.

Step 2:You will be answering the questions on the following page en espanol about your given song. Please refer to any vocabulary notes to help you with your answers. USE YOUR RESOURCES!

Step 3: Decide who is going to say what during your presentation. You must MEMORIZE your presentation. Each partner must give their own opinion and emotions about the song, all other questions can be divided. Remember students will be voting based on your song and presentation. Practice your presentation once you have divided the work. BOTH partners must have ALL answers written on their paper.

Step 4:You must create a poster that represents the meaning behind your song. You will be given the lyrics to your song in SPANISH. Your job will be to figure out what the song means. Then create some kind of drawing or graphics to demonstrate to the class the meaning behind your song. Use phrases from the song IN SPANISH to accompany the pictures in your song. Think back to the video we watched on “Vivir mi vida”.

Step 5:You may choose to teach the class the style of dance that goes to your genre of music. For example, if your song is from the Salsa genre, you can teach students how to salsa dance. You may use Youtube to help you find videos that will teach you the steps. CHECK WITH SENORA to make sure you have found an appropriate video. I will award bonus points to the groups who teach us the style of dance that accompanies their musical genre.

Grading Rubric

Vocabulario:Students used vocabulary from the list studied in class. Student used vocaublary terms appropriately and properly. Student displayed strong vocabulary knowledge by using as much vocabulary as possible.
