EJCDC
Marketing The EJCDC committee released the engineer/sub consultant documents in November but are behind schedule with the revision of the Construction document series
PEPP is seeing increased marketing competition from ASCE and ACEC .PEPP continues to develop new mailing lists, and marketing programs to improve and enhance the sale of EJCDC documents, which of course is one of the primary sources of NSPE non dues revenue.
Web seminar On April 4th PEPP is aiding the USDA/Rural Utilities Service on their first ever internal, on-line training program. This web seminar is for the engineers in the USDA/RUS Offices of State Engineers and will be on the EJCDC Funding Agency Edition contract documents, which are pre-approved on all water/waste water projects funded by RUS.
Council of Principals
The Council of Principals sponsored a web seminar title Recruiting & Retention 2007: Challenges to the Engineering Workforce
PEPP is working on expanding the Council of Principals outreach to States and Chapters by helping to develop and deliver COP programs on the local level. PEPP held a Council of Principals session in Tampa on February 23, 2007. Topics were on Better Employee Communication and Leading Change.
The national HR Round Table was a SOLD OUT event held March 21-23, 2007 in Alexandria VA. The PEPP/HR roundtable group expanded the offerings to twice a year, keeping the current one in the Spring in Alexandria, and partnering with a state society to host one in the Fall. The Illinois state society is partnered with PEPP on a Fall 2006 HR Roundtable in November. Positive feedback has been received on the event, although no detailed information has yet been made available. The Texas state society will partner with PEPP on a Fall 2007 offering in October in Dallas.
The annual national CFO Roundtable will be offered May 3-5, 2007 in Arlington Virginia.
PEPP Young Engineers Advisory Council
The PEPP Young Engineers Advisory Council (YEAC)’s is finalizing their presentation on motivation factors of young Engineers. Over 600 young NSPE members and 80 non member responded to a survey on their motivating factors at work. The output of this information has changed from a presentation to a document.
The group is also finalizing their “canned” presentation for states and chapters encouraging PEs to run for elected office. The information was gained through surveys of P.E.s who are elected officials, in order to gauge how being a professional engineer has impacted their time in office. Follow up video interviews are being scheduled with selected officials.
Professional Liability Committee
In October, NSPE/PEPP, along with the Risk Management Committees of the American Institute of Architects, and the American Council of Engineering Companies, will compile their nationwide survey of professional liability insurance companies to highlight rates, offerings, and other facts about the industry. The results and a directory will be published in the Professional Liability and Risk Management section of the NSPE Web site. After soliciting interest from NSPE members, the group has received numerous responses from members looking to participate in this committee in the future.
