Prefabricated Steel Buildings

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1Provide all labor, equipment and materials to furnish and install prefabricated portable steel building(s) where shown on the drawings.

1.2Related work Specified Elsewhere.

A.Electrical service supply and connection.

B.Site/Foundation work.

C.Unloading, placement, installation and anchoring.

D.Plumbing and piping (when required).

1.3Quality Assurance

A.Structures shall be the product of a manufacturer with a minimum of 15 years documented experience in the design and fabrication of portable steel buildings.

B.The approved manufacturer is Porta-King Building Systems, 4133 Shoreline Drive, Earth City, MO 63045, Ph. 1-800-284-5346, and Fax 1-314-291-2857, email .

C.Prefabricated buildings by manufacturers other than the one approved shall submit sufficient data to enable approval to be given. As a minimum: Design drawings and /or calculations, applicable certifications, catalog information, and color samples showing equal range of variety.

D.Electrical devices factory installed within the prefabricated building shall be UL listed.

E.Adherence to applicable portions of state and local building codes is the responsibility of the owner. Building manufacturer shall not be responsible for permits, engineering calculations, or architectural type drawings unless otherwise notified in writing 3-weeks prior to release of bid document.

1.4References

A.Upon request, the prefabricated building manufacturer shall provide the locations and owners of three (3) similar buildings that have been in service more than three (3) years. This will allow the architect/owner to inspect on site and obtain a statement from the owners on the quality of workmanship (fit and finish).

1.5Submittals

A.Upon award of order, manufacturer shall prepare and submit copies of shop drawings as required for each different building required for this project. Drawings shall include elevations, section, floor plan, electric schedule, service entrance locations, and anchor clip detail.

B.Color charts illustrating available colors and patterns for specified finishes shall be submitted to owner for prompt selections.

C.Warranty documents.

D.(OPTION) For installed products indicated to comply with design loads, include structural analysis data signed and sealed by the qualified professional engineer responsible for their preparation.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.1Product Construction

Building shall be of welded steel construction. Model number to be Durasteel ES<Insert Model Number> as manufactured by Porta-King Building Systems.

A.Structural corners consist of 14 gauge galvanealed steel. Corners are formed angles to create flush, uniform fit when welded to adjoining wall panels.

2.2Wall Panels

Exterior wall panels shall be 14 gauge galvanealed steel. (OPTION) Interior wall panels shall be 16 gauge galvanealed steel. Wall joints are comprised of self forming angles welded together to create arigid framework with a full flush exterior surface.

A.Single wall construction to be 14 gauge galvanealed steel.

B.(OPTION)Double wall construction to be 14 gauge galvanealed steel exterior and 16 gauge interior with R-9 insulating core. Wall thickness is 2".

C.(OPTION) Double wall construction to be 14 gauge galvanealed steel exterior and ½" plywood interior surface with a fiberglass (FRP) finish and R-9. Wall thickness is 2 1/2".

D.(OPTION)Double wall construction to be 14 gauge galvanealed steel exterior and 16 gauge interior with R-13 insulating core. Wall thickness is 3".

2.3Ceiling

Ceiling shall be 16 gauge galvanealed steel. Ceiling cavity to include an R-19 insulating core.

2.4Finish

All exterior surfaces shall be electrostatically painted with rust inhibitive epoxy primer and shall have a finish coat of air-dry industrial acrylic paint. Building to be painted one color, as selected from standard acrylic finishes.

2.5(OPTION)Floor Structure

  1. Floor structure to be an integral part of the building with 1 ½” solid waterproof insulating core fit tight against panels and fastened to bottom structural base frame. Floor load capacity 50 PSF live load.

2.6Doors

Doors to be 18 gauge hollow metal door.

  1. Door Leaf: Provide 3068 single swing door, <6068 double swing door> hollow metal steel door consisting of 18 gauge sheet steel. Door leaf to be painted with rust resistant primer with two finish coats of air dried modified acrylic enamel. Color to match exterior wall panels.
  1. Door Frame: Provide frame consisting of cold formed channel, combination type with integral stop. Door frame to be painted with rust resistant primer with two finish coats of air dried modified acrylic enamel. Color to match exterior wall panels.

2.7(OPTION)Electrical

A.(OPTION)Furnish <Qty>, surface mounted 115v duplex.

B.(OPTION) Furnish <Qty>, surface mounted 230v duplex.

C.(OPTION) Furnish <Qty> surface mounted fluorescent type light fixture with acrylic lens and wall switch (tubes to be furnished by others).

D.(OPTION) Include one Thru-Wall HVAC unit 230V, 10,400C/11,600H BTU230V, 11,600C/11,600H BTU.

E.(OPTION) Include Qty wall mounted heater unit (230V, 4000 Watt).

F.(OPTION) Include Qty160 CFM exhaust fan

2.8Exterior Roof

To be a gabled water proof design

Exterior roof shall be 16 gauge galvanealed steel formed to fit flush with exterior walls.

Seams are to be welded and sealed to create a weather proof barrier. Heavy-duty lifting

lugs are to be included at roof line on each corner.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.1General

Install prefabricated buildings on a flat and level concrete pad in accordance with the manufacturer’s placement drawings. Position unit over equipment and utility stub-ups; verify building is level and anchor (Anchors are supplied on site, by others. Comply with local codes).
