III.Selection Procedures

The simplified nomination procedure is designed to generate a broad pool of candidates for the awards. The pool of nominees for each award will be reviewed and narrowed to arrive at three or four finalists in each category. Once the finalists are selected, they will be notified of their status and requested to provide,by the designated deadline, appropriate documentation to support their candidacy.

The final selections will be based on the initial nominations and additional information provided by candidates for the awards. Candidates’ departments will also be notified of their nomination.

Outstanding individuals may be candidates for multiple Distinguished Achievement Awards.

In an effort to recognize as many qualified individuals as possible, two additional guidelines have been introduced:

  1. Recipients of Distinguished Achievement Awards will not be considered for another award in the same category.
  2. Recipients may be considered for awards in other categoriesfive years after receipt of a previous Distinguished Achievement Award. A listing of Distinguished Achievement Award recipients in each category is available at under the Honors Convocation link.

Awards will not necessarily be made in all categories each year. If it is determined that there

is an insufficient number of qualified candidates in the pool of nominees, no award will be made.

To review the pool of candidates, and to ensure a wide variety of views and perspectives are considered in the selection process, the Distinguished Achievement Awards selection process

will be administered as follows:
