Pre-K Newsletter Week of Aug. 17-21

This is your first weekly newsletter of the year. You will receive a newsletter for the next 3 weeks on Monday in your child’s binder. Starting in September, we will be posting our weekly newsletters online via the school website. We will send information regarding the school website in the next few weeks. The newsletter will always explain what your child will be working on in class for the week. Please read over each newsletter and work with your child at home. Thank you in advance!

Reading—To help us focus on the colors, we will be reading the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Students will be dramatizing the story using puppets and finger plays. We will also be reading Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom and working on recognizing our name. I will be showing the students the different parts of a book, so ask them if they can tell you about the parts. (Front cover, back cover, title, author, title page)

Math—This week we will be working on colors. The colors we will focus on are red, yellow, blue, green, black, brown, purple, and orange. Please work with your child on these colors.

Pledge of Allegiance—We say the Pledge everyday in the classroom. When your child knows the Pledge then he/she will receive a small flag. Please work with your child at home.

Snack- Please only send one thing to eat and one thing to drink. If your child orders ice cream, please do not send them a snack for that day, their ice cream will serve as their snack for the day.

Behavior Calendar- Please be sure sign the behavior calendar in your child’s notebook daily. This ensures us that you have seen how your child behaved for the day.

Mandatory Pre-K Meeting- We will have our Pre-k meeting on Tuesday, August 25 at 5:30. This is a required meeting for all Pre-K parents/guardians. We will be discussing the expectations of our Pre-K students and parent involvement. This will be before the Open House PTA meeting which is at 6:00pm.

Please help support our school and join PTA for $6.00!!

Thank you!
