Parking Garage:Located on Reid Avenue. Please store away any valuables from site including cell phone, GPS etc. Theft in the parking garage occurs. PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK

Directions to classroom from parking garage- take elevator to first floor and go left, hallway dead ends into LCCC Learning center. Room 120 is our classroom for summer semester 2010, classroom opens at 815am.

Hours: 830-430pm first 2 weeks (lecture/ lab); 7am-330pm for clinical portion-location discussed in class

Attendance Mandatory:No excused absences including mandatory court dates etc. Attendance is required. No make-up is possible in this class. Call if you are late.

Health Requirements:Done before Day 1 of class, submit all course requirements (immunizations, waivers etc) to Jamesha (440.366.4178)in HS223 main campus; You will be asked to drop class if course requirementsnot done. For questions related to health requirements, please call Jamesha in Allied Health & Nursing Division

Weather issuesSt. Joseph center can stay open even if main campus is closed due to weather advisories, make your best effort to get to class safely as it is difficult to reschedule missed time 440.366.4500

Book purchase (mandatory $45-50), CDROM scratch off cover inside- buy at bookstore or anywhere else, buy ASAP if purchasing in the bookstore since they run out, if ordering from bookstore takes 3-5 days, Textbook for Nursing Assistants. A Humanistic Approach, 2008

Angel: PowerPointsaccessible from home- available the weekend before class starts-

Go to click on ANGEL login button (Use Student ID# as login, passwordis last4digits of your SSN unless you changed the password previously). Next go to the Lessons Tab. Course materials including Lecture PowerPoint’s for 9 days, study guides for quiz and final exam, bring power point slides to class – print 4-6 per sheet, sample outline for presentation in class. Please call Distance Learning (ANGEL home page) for problems accessing materials.

Syllabuscontains Policies of course- distributed on day 1, no cell phones or computers in class, no excused absences

Dress code:Street clothes for the first week- dress in layers. Start wearing solid white uniform scrubs & white shoes (more details on day 1) or clean white tennis shoesfor week 2 and 3, wear white socks , may wear white T shirt under white scrubs

Speech required– sample outline on ANGEL, topic is related to nurse aide job or long-term care

Lunch: 30 minutes, bring or go out for lunch–refrigerator & microwaveoven available in nursing lab

Smoking: restricted area out by Reid Avenuenear street only

State test will be offered about 3 weeks after finish class-cost is $100 out of pocket, money (no cash) due week of clinical (may use MasterCard or VISA), or money order made out to D & S Diversified Technolog.ies – no cash, Wait for further information, applications for state test will be completed in class. AHS students may have fees covered. Testing site is in your training lab. We can test max of 14/ day. Keep entire day free to test.

All students testing must have an unexpired photo ID such as a drivers license or state ID. No electronics on your person for state test, if caught no testing for 6 months with loss of testing fee.

Practice for state test: held few days before test in St Joes lab, mandatory attendance for high school groups.

Miscellaneous: We expect all student to assist us in cleaning up the lab at the end of the day. This will expedite your release for the day.
